Cassidy gives Jay Z advice…

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

Cassidy

Ok Cass is definitely one of the nicest lyricist in the game right now but it seems as though he’s been sniffing that drug that most rappers inhale on as it gets closer to their album release drop……..Rocks for publicity. Here’s what Cassidy had to say to Sohh in lei of his Nov 6 album release date…

I think right now, the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is poppin’ off, I don’t think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on November 6,

Cass’ new project, The Barry Adrien Reese Story (B.A.R.S.) is slated to hit shelves the same day as Hov’s concept album American Gangster.

And though Jay’s “unofficial soundtrack” to the flick of the same name has been getting good reviews, Cass said American Gangster is not as anticipated as any of Hov’s classics.

It ain’t like when [The Blueprint] Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 was gonna drop, it’s a lot different,” Cassidy said.

The same way that Kanye and 50 both benefited from dropping on the same day, I think if I drop with somebody as legendary as Hov, I can’t do nothing but benefit from that,” Cass said. “I’m happy that Hov, a person that really takes lyricism seriously, is coming back out again.

Vanessa Williams has signed an endorsement deal with skin care company Proactive for a reported $20million. We don’t see anything wrong with her skin! Jessica Simpson is also an endorser for Proactive and it nets her $3million a year. Vanessa is doing her thing on the hit show “Ugly Betty” and now a nice check for pretending to have f*cked up skin. Well anyway get that money.

Juanita Bynum's $4.5million home set for auction next month for non-payment of taxes!

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

Juanita Bynum

Evangelist Juanita Bynum’s $4.5 million South Georgia compound is scheduled to be auctioned off next month for nonpayment of property taxes, officials said.

Ware County Tax Commissioner Steve Barnard filed a lien against the 23.6-acre property owned by Juanita Bynum Ministries on June 7, citing failure to pay $32,007.56 in 2006 property tax.

According to the lien, a $3,200 penalty and $2,240 in interest is also owed.

It’s the latest legal drama involving the nationally known Pentecostal evangelist, who has been in the news in recent weeks after alleging she was beaten by her estranged husband, Thomas Weeks.

Barnard said Tuesday that the property, on St. Bernard Trail near Waycross, will be sold at auction on Nov. 6 on the steps of the Ware County Courthouse. The auction will be canceled if Bynum Ministries, which still has ownership, pays the full amount before that date, he said.

Bynum’s Waycross-based ministry bought the property for $4.5 million last year.

Barnard said there is a 7,487-square-foot house, a 6,748-square-foot house and a 1,366-square-foot house on the property. Bynum lives in one of the homes, he said.

Barnard said someone from Bynum’s office called him last month, “wanting to know if they could set up a payment plan, and I told them if she sent me $25,000, I’d take it out of the [Nov. 6] sale, and she’d have 60 days to pay the balance.

That partial payment was supposed to be made by Sept. 28, Barnard said.

“I never received anything, and then last week, I received a check for $5,000 and someone from her organization called and wanted to know if we got the check,” Barnard said. “I said, well, we got a check for $5,000 that was supposed to have been $25,000, and they wanted to know if that would take it out of the sale and I told them, no.”

A Message From Tyler Perry!!! A Must Read!!!!!

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

 Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry posted this to his website tylerperry.com on 10/10/07 – Good Stuff!!!

Hey there!

I woke up this morning knowing that I needed to send this email to you to let you know that WHY DID I GET MARRIED? opens this Friday.

I know that I needed to tell you to please check your ticket stubs to make sure that they say WHY DID I GET MARRIED? And I needed to say, “Please go this weekend, the first weekend is very important!” I know that I needed to ask you to please not buy this movie on bootleg, but to see it in the theaters. I know that I needed to send this email to stress all of this, but I also felt so compelled this morning to talk to you about something else.

Yesterday a reporter asked me a question.  He said, “With all that is happening to you now–when you were growing up in New Orleans did you ever imagine that you would be in this position?”

I told him, “Yes, I did imagine!”

He was shocked. He said, “You don’t think that’s a little arrogant?”

I told him this–and I want to share it with you because the way he looked at me I know that he won’t print it.

I said, “I had to imagine myself in a better place.  Sometimes the nights got so cold and the days so hard and long that if I wouldn’t have then I wouldn’t have made it.”

The Bible says that you should speak things that are not as though they were, and that you must cast down imaginations and everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  It also says that the power of life and death is in the tongue. So, you can speak life or you can speak death. I chose to speak life into my situation. I chose to use my imagination to take me higher. Not just in this life but higher in Christ.

I want to ask you some questions today. And this is mainly for the people that are going through right now. When you think about your tomorrow are good things waiting for you? When you imagine your future are you happy and blessed?  Is your family happy? Are you in a better place than you are now? If you don’t see good things in your future then nothing good will come your way. You must think good about you so that it can come to you. So, start seeing yourself in a better place. I promise you that it works. It worked for me and it can work for you.

And just a side note, when you start to dream and see yourself in a better place, don’t share it with everybody. Long ago I stopped telling people my dreams because I would always run into dream stealers–people who are so miserable and so mad at the world that all they can do is bring you bitter words of hopelessness. Stay away from these people!  They are poison.  I had a few people in my life like that. I had to get rid of them–and some of them were family members.

It’s time to come out of it. And it starts in your mind. If God can bring me out of poverty and despair and place me right in the middle of the life that I’ve always dreamed of then He can do it for anyone…if you believe.

As you head to the movies this weekend my prayer is that you begin to live in the place that God has prepared for you. Use your imagination. It is a glorious tool. See yourself doing better and it shall come to pass. It has no choice.  Remember, as a man (or woman) thinketh so is he (she).  In other words what “you” think of “you” becomes who “you” are.

So, what are “you” thinking of “you” today?

Be blessed,

Tyler Perry

P.S. I’ll see you at the movies.

Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" tops box office at $21.5million!

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

Tyler Perry and Jill Scott

Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?” topped all weekend movies raking in $21.5 million. A lot of skeptics doubted that a movie without Madea would be as successful. Well Tyler Perry proved them all wrong. Some pretty cool names graced the screen for this movie including singing sensation Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, and Malik Yoba.

Here is what Tyler Perry had to say about the amount of screens “Why Did I Get Married?” was shown on compared to other movies…

In the midst of all of this I was fighting trying to get more screens because every other movie that opens with a track record like mine have not had to deal with fighting for screens. Most of the movies of my counterparts open on at least 3,000 screens. MARRIED was given 2,000.”

This was the top 10 grossing movies this past weekend.

1. “Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?”, $21.5 million.

2. “The Game Plan,” $11.5 million.

3. “Michael Clayton,” $11.01 million.

4. “We Own the Night,” $11 million.

5. “The Heartbreak Kid,” $7.4 million.

6. “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” $6.2 million.

7. “The Kingdom,” $4.6 million.

8. “Across the Universe,” $4 million.

9. “Resident Evil: Extinction,” $2.65 million.

10.”The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising.” $2.15million

Don Imus is back.

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

Don Imus

The “Nappy-headed ho caller” is back on WABC radio.

After being fired last spring from CBS (nyse: CBS news people ) Radio and General Electric‘s (nyse: GE news people ) NBC television after he made disparaging remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, it really hasn’t been a question of if, but rather, when, and where, he would resume his career.

Now, according to reports, the revitalized Imus in the Morning program will debut on Dec. 3 on WABC in New York City. The station is the flagship home of conservative talk show hosts Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham and Bob Grant.

Here’s what it’s all about right here folks…

“As popular as he was for years, more people know him now than ever before. The question is whether he’ll have to tone himself down so much that he loses the edginess that vaulted him to stardom in the first place. It’s a fine line to walk, for sure.” – Yep that money! Imus would have never been fired if you ask me, not until the advertisers started pulling out their bankrolls did the station give him his walking papers. Morals they don’t exist in the corporate world only money….

The Big News About Yahoo!

Posted by Media Outrage on 16th October 2007

Yahoo

Over the past two years, Yahoo! (nasdaq: YHOO news people ) has quietly solidified its position as the No. 1 provider of general, financial and sports news on the Internet. Two out of every five people who use Yahoo! look at its news, finance and sports sites–50 million people every month, according to Internet tracking firm ComScore. That’s more than even the news service of Internet golden child Google (nasdaq: GOOG news people ).

Broadcast television still reaches more people in a single hour; 6 million viewers at a time will tune in to the CBS Evening News. But over the course of a month, the online portals are providing news to more people.

That means that aggregators like Yahoo!, MSN and AOL are becoming this generation’s power hubs for news, commanding the attention that the networks did in their heyday.

“Like most families, mine used to sit down most nights to watch Walter Cronkite,” says Moore. “He was like the voice of God, telling us what was important and what we needed to know to guide ourselves through life. Well, today there isn’t really a place for that–it has been unvarnished.”
