Rihanna:Breakout Artist of the Year

Rihanna covers the latest FHM and is definitely our choice for Breakout Artist of the Year. Her catchy single ‘Umbrella’ got an incredible amount of radio air play and lived on the charts. Rihanna was extremely visible in the eye of the media for various reasons. This year she seemed to stay engulfed in the deafening rumors that she and Jay-Z were conducting a secret affair behind her supposed rival Beyonce’s back. She boldly confronted and shot down those rumors in a recent interview. She was able to carve out her own niche, and solidify herself as an artist that might just prove to maintain relevance and staying power for years to come. Congrats to Rihanna for her success in 2007 and we look forward to seeing a lot more of her in 2008.
