Lil’ Wayne was released from jail today after being arrested yesterday for felony drug possession.
Lil’ Wayne was nabbed Tuesday (Jan. 22) around 11:30 p.m. in Yuma County, Ariz. after a Border Patrol dog alerted agents to the presence of illegal drugs on his bus. A search of the vehicle turned up 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of ecstasy and $22,000 belonging to the rapper.
Two members of his entourage Curtis Stewart and Harold Johnson were arrested with him; they each face a charge of possession of marijuana.
After spending the day in the Yuma County Jail, Weezy posted more than $10,000 bond and was seen blessing fans with autographs outside the bondsman’s office.
A court clerk at the Yuma County Justice Court who asked to remain anonymous told SOHH that the rapper is scheduled to appear back in court on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. MST for a reading of a complaint, because he’s been booked on pending felony charges.
Weezy, who has not yet been charged, retained local lawyer James Tilson to represent him in the matter.
“We will find out by Jan. 25 whether or not the (Yuma) county attorney will file charges or not,” Tilson said. “He is looking forward to his day in court. That’s all I can say right now.”
