Eva Mendes enters rehab

Posted by Media Outrage on 1st February 2008

Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes has checked herself into a rehab.

Via PageSix:

“Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva’s privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details,” her rep told PageSix.com.

The 33-year-old had previously spoken out on her distaste for the Hollywood lifestyle. “The celebrity world can be so ugly. Everyone seems to have slept with everyone else and it’s some sort of strange weird cycle. I don’t want to get into that.” In addition to acting, Eva had recently become the face of PETA’s new ad campaign and is currently featured in the 2008 Campari calendar promoting their line of alcohol.

Eva is allegedly receiving treatment at the posh Cirque Lodge, located in Sundance, which prides itself as being one of the most exclusive alcohol and drug rehab centers in the country. It is the same facility where Mean Girl Lindsay Lohan spent her third rehab stint and hooked up with snowboarder Riley Giles. Billionaire twin Mary-Kate Olsen also spent time there in 2004.

he resort-like rehab is set in the majestic mountains in Sundance and offers a variety of addiction and behavioral treatment programs. The luxurious bedrooms include down duvets and pillows, reading and relaxation areas, fireplaces or wood-burning stoves, and large bathrooms with slate tile and jetted tubs.

In addition to treatment programs, Cirque Lodge offers a variety of activities for its guests including working with horses, high-rope low-rope, snow shoeing, mountain biking, helicopter, kickboxing, yoga, and ceramics. While Lohan was receiving treatment there, she was seen with horses and walking a dog while hiking.

A 30-day stay at the luxury rehab isn’t cheap. To stay in the ultra-exclusive “Lodge” building with only 16 beds, the rate starts at $44,850. Staying at the “Studio” facility, located on twelve acres and having 44 beds, starts at $29,850.

Beyonce to the rescue

Posted by Media Outrage on 1st February 2008

Beyonce

Kelly recently hit up Beyonce for help in hitting a high note. So B went down to the studio to help her little sis out and coached her until she got it.

Via Nypost:

“WHEN Kelly Rowland can’t hit a high note, she calls in the big guns. The former Destiny’s Child member recently recorded a song in New York with Gym Class Heroes front man Travis McCoy, but struggled to hit one high note. So she called up her best pal Beyoncé, who showed up within the hour with six armed bodyguards in tow. She gave Rowland tips and coached her until she got it.”

Kelly is inching closer and closer to solidifying ‘Bleek’ position to Beyonce. Although she has sold way more records and still has way more dough than Bleek will ever have. But still though….

Microsoft wants Yahoo for $44.6Billion

Posted by Media Outrage on 1st February 2008

Bill Gates

Microsoft Corp. has pounced on slumping Internet icon Yahoo Inc. with an unsolicited takeover offer of $44.6 billion in its boldest bid yet to challenge Google Inc.’s dominance of the lucrative online search and advertising markets.

The announcement sent Yahoo’s share price up 60 percent in premarket trading, while Google fell 8 percent.

In a letter to Yahoo’s board of directors, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer indicated the world’s largest software maker is determined to bring the two companies together.

Microsoft sent its latest takeover offer to Yahoo late Thursday, shortly after Semel resigned as the company’s chairman. The letter is addressed to Semel’s successors, new Chairman Roy Bostock and the current CEO, co-founder Jerry Yang, who is one of Yahoo’s largest shareholders.

“Microsoft’s consistent belief has been that the combination of Microsoft and Yahoo! clearly represents the best way to deliver maximum value to our respective shareholders, as well as create a more efficient and competitive company that would provide greater value and service to our customers,” Ballmer wrote.

Yahoo didn’t immediately respond for requests for comment.

Under terms of the proposed deal, Yahoo shareholders could choose to receive cash or Microsoft common shares, with the total purchase consisting of 50 percent cash and 50 percent stock.

Microsoft said it sees at least $1 billion in cost savings generated by the combination, and intends to offer significant retention packages to Yahoo engineers, key leaders and employees. The software giant said it believes the takeover would receive regulatory clearance and close in the second half of 2008.

Signaling Microsoft doesn’t intend to take no for an answer, Ballmer wrote that the company “reserves the right to pursue all necessary steps to ensure that Yahoo’s shareholders are provided with the opportunity to realize the value inherent in our proposal.”

Mediaoutrage- Interesting first Microsoft sinks $500 million into Facebook a few months ago, and now they want to buy Yahoo!. They are definitely trying to keep pace with Google.
