Matthew Knowles responds to Aretha’s criticism of his daughter

We knew Matthew wasn’t just going to stand by and be mute while Aretha Franklin attacked Beyonce with accusations of trying to slight her at the Grammys by introducing Tina Turner as “The Queen”. Here’s what Matti had to say…
“I’m not even going to take this to [Beyonce]. Something this ridiculous, it’s childish, it’s unprofessional. And it’s a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess.”
He has a good point. We’ll risk being redundant, repetitive, and saying this again that we don’t believe Beyonce was trying to piss on Aretha Franklin’s ego or pride by referring to Tina Turner as “The Queen”.

I don’t think the disrespect is needed on media outrage’s part, but I do think it is very childish. Tina Turner is a Queen in her own right just like Mary J, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and countless of wonderful black entertainers.There is tons of stories dealing with Beyonce on http://www.globalgrind.com

Matte, Mattee let it be. You and Beyonce haven’t been in the business of music long enough to discredit Ms. Arethat Franklin. Aretha music will last for ever but who will remember Beyonce showing her tail on stage that comes a dime a dozen. SHe is already looking like her mother and thats no good. If you give one person a title and then give the same title to someone else, it is no longer special. Aretha is and always will be queen of soul. Tina may be queen of rock and roll, but that can be disputed. It should have been clear queen of what. And Matthew sounds just a arrogant talking to Aretha that way – she has 20 grammys!! Lord, when will be blacks RESPECT one another? God help us!

I’m not even that big of a Beyonce fan, actually, I don’t own a single Beyonce album at all, but I enjoy her songs when they come on the radio, and I prefer her voice and style over Jennifer Hudson’s ANYDAY. Just because JHud has a stronger voice does not make it better than B’s. And as for Miss Aretha Franklin, she needs to remember that it was GOD who gave her that singing voice, just like he gave Pattie, Whitney, Gladys, Roberta, and countless others their talent. God did not ordain her Queen of anything, that title was given to her by a magazine and it stuck. She needs to remember that before she goes implying she’s the only one worthy of R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Townie, I really respect what you have said but I don’t think Aretha thought that her blessing is not from GOD. If beyonce can get on national TV and tell the world she want an Oscar and know that she cannot hold a sentence together that carries a Noun, pronoun, verb or adverb then I think that Aretha can ask for clarity on her statement “The Queen”. I bet 9 times out of 10 this was not written in script. She makes these bloopers and her pappy trys to manipulate the situation but, I think as I have stated before his ARMS are still to short to box with aretha. I think half the time he be on those cocaine/prostition withdrall when he open his mouth. Since the statement only Aretha has been on Tv and invited to differet venues but where is Beyonce off trying to win another oscar playing ETTA JAMES. If her daddy think she is that special, why don’t he do her life? It would really be enlighting to see how they patch up the way they treated the “Bad Seeds” in the bunch,now those are BEYONCE’s words on primetime. They should have sued her again for defimation of character. The parents of the girls should have sued her again. I see that Beyonce and her father have brought into two movie so that Beyonce can star in it again. WHy don’t it amaze me that no other female with musical talent is in it this time(my point rested) Beyonce the same way you and you pappy have brought your way into a lot of things is the same way you will have to buy an oscar. If you played Ellie MAe in a remake of the beverly hillbillies that would guarantee you an Oscar, Sag, honorable mention, a minie series and anything else that dumb county bumpkins like you deserve You are real easy to forget.
