Female mayor fired for pics in bra and panties

The Mayor of the small town Arlington, Oregon Carmen Kontur-Gronquist has been stripped of her duties because of the above picture that a relative posted on a Myspace page.

Voters in Arlington, population about 500, voted narrowly on Monday night to recall Carmen Kontur-Gronquist.
The tally was 142-139. City officials said the recall is effective Tuesday.
Kontur-Gronquist said the pictures of her in black bra and panties were taken for use in a contest about fitness, but a relative posted them on MySpace in hopes it would improve the social life of the single mother.
They predated her election, but she said she saw no reason to take them off the popular Web site once elected three years ago. Later, she closed access to them.
Opponents said it wasn’t fitting for the mayor to be so depicted. They said they also disagreed with her on issues about water and the local golf course.
Mediaoutrage- SMH that she didn’t take the pics down after she was elected. We’re willing to bet that 499 of those votes to remove her were from women. Women don’t want their men at home using the vaseline and fantasizing about anyone but them, so you know that little scrawny ass blond hair thing was getting the boot.

We had a president having sex in the white house and his wife is now running for president. Her pictures are her business and if she is performing her duties as mayor then the people of her little town should grow up. The children of this town can see more in there mom’s victoria secret magazines and on the web. I think she is hot and the people of her town should be happy she is so physically fit.

Not a story except in the prudish US. I thought Oregon was a bit more advanced than this – it is the sort of thing I expect from Utah or Kansas.
Elsewhere to get a headline it would have to read “Male mayor fired for pics in bra and panties” – and no doubt we will see lots of photoshopped versions of that story now!

Ok….as the female voice of reason here….I have to say that I agree with everyone so far. We need more elected officials lingerie, only in the US would this even make headlines, and more politicans should have sex while in office (not really what he said…but true!). She SHOULD have run on a health platform. I would vote for her just for having enough guts to take the picture. Most women would be hiding behind the truck in the background!!Go girl!~~Dee

What’s wrong with bras and panties? It doesn’t look obscene as she was just standing there and not even doing any suggestive playboy poses….. I don’t see the difference between this pic an a pic of her in a bikini at the beach…

It must be nice to be a small town where a few individuals can have the power to get what ever they want. Welcome to the international stage where support for her is going to consume you. This doesn’t qualify as a scandal, it is more of an injustice that a small group of people (do they have electricity yet?) can command the world stage when all they wanted was to hide in their little whole. Welcome to the real world kids. A few spoiled little children just want their sandbox back. I hope there are lots of cats in this town. Perhaps the spotlight will stay on this town long enough to bring the real rats deepest secrets into the light of day.

We had a President having sex with someone other than his wife while in the White House (& lied too). There was the Mayor of DC caught on video tape dealing with cocaine. And we have Arnold S. the terminator. Is he not the Gov or Mayor in CA? Well, what about some of his past movies where he shared the screen with actresses in similar attire? Anyone see him in True Lies? Have children in Oregon and CA seen these movies? I think he may have been bare chested in one or two. Oh the shame of it all. As far as the Mayor in Oregon is concerned, you can see more skin in a department store under garment ad in the newspaper. Quick Oregon, hide your newspapers. Oh, thats right, the majority of teen girls today dress like that at the beach while most of their concerned parents turn a blind eye.

This is absurd! Imagine if the former president Bill was judged in the same way. What ever happened to focusing on the political aspect, yanno, sort of how the entire country did at the time? I don’t recall Arlington, Oregon having a problem with all of that at that time, or if they did, they kept quiet about it. So, how about they start voicing what the real problem is here, instead of masquerading this whole thing behind some pictures. Ok, so take the pictures down, slap her hand, and keep on letting her improve your town! After all isn’t that what every city wants from their mayor?
