The race for MVP

With only about 20 games left this season there are two races going on; the race for a playoff spot and the race for the league’s Most Valuable Player. The past few seasons MVP award has went to Steve Nash even though we personally believe that Kobe should have won last year and the year before when he dropped 81points against Toronto.

Right now 3 candidates come to mind when discussing the award and they are Lebron James, Chris Paul, and Kobe Bryant. Lebron is having an excellent year but he doesn’t deserve to win because his team is currently 4th in the Eastern Conference standings which is the weaker of the two conferences.

Chris Paul is doing his thing and has his team in the number 1 spot with a record of 49-21. That is saying a lot for a team that really doesn’t seem to have the talent to be number one. That spot is going to continue to vacillate due to the close records and tough competition in that conference.

Kobe Bryant is having another excellent year, and due to the additions like Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, and the strong play of the injured Bynum the Lakers are looking like they could possibly come out of the west. So we must say that if the season were to end today our vote would go to Kobe Bryant who is still the best player in the world since Michael Jordan retired.

LeBron for mvp is obvious. he leads the 4th quarter in scoring, leads the league in scoring. his numbers are bettter than Kobe in scoring, assist and rebounding. As for Paul, yes N.O is in first at the moment, but he does have better talent than LeBron around him. Peja is a better shooter than any player on the cavs and David west is a better number 2 option throughout the league more than most give him credit for. LeBron with mediocre talent and a injury plagued team in which he was also injured has cavs in the 4spot in the east. better game and bigger impact, LeBron for mvp! period.
