Henry Hager and Jenna Bush tie the knot

President Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush got married yesterday to longtime boyfriend Henry Hager.

The president’s daughter, Jenna Bush and her longtime boyfriend Henry Hager are married.
The pair said “I Do” under an outdoor tent on the property of President George W. Bush’s 1,600 acre Crawford, Texas, ranch in front of 200 guests.
“This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the happy life ahead of [Jenna] and her husband, Henry,” the president said during his weekly radio broadcast on Saturday. “It’s also a special time for Laura, who this Mother’s Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle.”
Laura admitted she wished her daughter, 26, and the man she calls her “soul mate” would tie the knot at the White House — but Jenna said that wasn’t her style.
“There’s a glamour to it, I know,” Jenna said in a Vogue interview. “But Henry and I are far less glamorous than the White House.”
In search of “something organic and low-key,” the couple chose a spot near a lake on her parents’ ranch.
“We put a giant cross made out of Texas limestone that will serve as the altar, but also serve as a landmark on our place for years to come,” President Bush told Good Morning America Monday.
Jenna donned a “simple and elegant” Oscar de la Renta gown made of organza with embroidery and matte beading, she said.
Her 14 bridesmaids — referred to as members of the “house party” — dressed in Lela Rose tea-length dresses that mimic the colors of Texas wildflowers: blues, greens, lavenders and pinky reds, the AP reported.
Maid of honor, twin sister Barbara Bush, picked a long, light blue silk gown with an open back that “really matches the color of [her eyes],” Rose told the Washington Post.
For their first dance, Jenna and Hager chose “Lovin’ in My Baby’s Eyes” by Taj Mahal, the lead singer of the 10-piece wedding band, Tyrone Smith, told the AP. The father-daughter dance was Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful.”
They are expected to honeymoon in Europe, the AP reported.
Hager, 30, met Jenna in 2004 while both were working on her father’s presidential re-election campaign. Hager, the son of a former lieutenant governor of Virginia and current chairman of the state’s Republican party, worked as an aide to both Karl Rove and for the commerce secretary.
They became engaged in August 2007 during a sunrise hike at the Acadia National Park in Maine. Hager gave Jenna an heirloom platinum ring with a round diamond center stone flanked by sapphires.
He will receive his master’s degree in business administration this month from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and will then begin working for an energy company.
Jenna, who has been touring the country promoting a book she co-wrote with her mom called Read All About It!, is expected to return to teaching.
The couple will move into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse they recently purchased in Baltimore, Maryland.
