When racism backfires
Posted by Media Outrage on May 20, 2008
Last week we reported a disturbing happening in Marietta Georgia where Mike Norman who is the owner of a bar called Mulligans (Every black person who has a problem with this obviously racist offensive image should not patronize his bar or any other of his businesses! That is the way you fight back peaceably. You hit a racist in his pockets!) started selling white t-shirts with a “Curious George” look-a-like figure on the front which reads Obama ‘08 which immediately drew black protesters who were more than offended. Mike Norman and his racist ass claims that he had no racist intent when he made the shirt, but only thought the image resembled Barack Obama and refused to stop selling the shirt. Well ok in a nice twist for his racist ass read this…..
Via Eurweb:
*The publisher of children’s book series “Curious George” has announced it will consider taking legal action against a Georgia bar owner for selling T-shirts that show the monkey peeling a banana with “Obama in ‘08″ printed beneath the image.
“Houghton Mifflin Harcourt did not nor would we ever authorize or approve this use of the Curious George character, which we find offensive and utterly out of keeping with the values Curious George represents,” said Richard Blake, the company’s spokesman.
Bar owner Mike Norman, who began selling the shirts in late April, has said he sees nothing racist about the t-shirts. He said he thinks the Illinois senator and the character “look so much alike.”
Bill Nigut, southeast regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, said Norman is being disingenuous.
“He can pretend he doesn’t understand what the message of that T-shirt is, but he knows full well that’s an offensive and demeaning stereotype used to insult African-Americans,” Nigut told the Associated Press.
Mediaoutrage- That’s good sue that racist prick for every cent he owns or has made from those offensive shirts. He can claim all he wants that he doesn’t see any racial undertones in that image and that’s cool just let him say that while he’s homeless.

Thats what I’m talking about. I saw this on CNN. God don’t like UGLY. To be honest how many black folk even feel comfortable going in his bar. He looked to be every bit of a skin head or back woods “drag ‘em” type.

This guy has signs outside of his bar that say things like “a gathering place for caucasians”, “no habla espanol, and never will”, and anything else his stupidity leads him to post that will intimidate minorities. Ya’ll should write letters to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt expressing your outrage and plea for legal action against him.
