Not even racist hatred can stop us now
Posted by Media Outrage on May 21, 2008
This is racism at it’s worst. It does seem that the closer Barack Obama gets to securing the Democratic nomination (which by the way is already a done deal) the more emboldened these racist cowards get. The Roswell Beacon released this cover which is ridiculous and hateful on so many levels.
Via SandraRose:
The accompanying article is about hate groups in the area who are upset about Senator Obama’s candidacy and concerns the local authorities have about possible violent acts from these groups. The article itself is not offensive, but the cover is beyond the pale. As indicated by the article, there are some serious racists in the area, and Obama’s candidacy has brought out the worst in a lot of people. The last thing we need is a newspaper to suggest assassination with an incendiary cover such as this.
Please let the Roswell Beacon know how you feel about their irresponsible cover: http://www.beaconcast.com/

Mediaoutrage- She covered it all. If you consider this offensive and of course suggestive hatred please do make your voice (which is powerful by the way) heard in a way that matters, because this is just unacceptable. Not even racist hatred can stop this now just as it couldn’t stop the civil rights movement! Shout to SandraRose for the investigative reporting great job.

sigh…it’s really mind blowing and just irritating and sad that people are still like this…
May 21, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Agreed.
May 21, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Yo, this is stupid. we need to look past this and look at change
May 21, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Plus, i live in atlanta and rosweel is 12 min. north, you dont have a problem about recial violence because those white boys are still within Fulton County, if they go to jail their assholes would be made into hotel rooms for real rapist. So don’t worry they’re not going to do anything major

I am not surprised and I believe that it will get worse as time goes on. Most white Americans would rather elect a white woman than a black man to run our country. I must say that I am truly proud of my African American presidential candidate because as Black People we have really come a long long way. This is just another obstacle that we have to overcome and we will. The other race will just simply get over it!
May 21, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Very sad
May 21, 2008 at 10:43 pm
why are paying attention to this bullshit story anyways..WHy can we focus on the positive ..like Senator Byrd, longest serving senator in U.S. history, and former member of the KKK (no joke) saying that he support Obama..NOW THAT’S NEWS …a old KKK racist (used to be) Senator endorsing a black Senator…The Obama Changing training is coming..whether people like it or not….CHOOOOOOOOOOOO CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
May 22, 2008 at 12:55 pm
now why did they have to take it there!! If Obama becomes President, sorry, WHEN Obama becomes President I think a lot of folk think he may be in the line of fire as far as an assassination is concerned. Do you know how many white people hate him just because he is a black man running for president?? Just the way they killed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a lot of people are talking about Obama possibly being another victim if elected. What you guys think about that??

Goodmorning Sweetthang. I’ll be honest i don’t think we should even entertain those types of thoughts and put that out in the atmosphere. I believe he will be safe and he has a lot of people praying for him and his family as far as safety is concerned. I think some racist white people want to open up that discussion but think about it why? They are trying to subliminally put this idea into folks minds and yes it is probably already in certain peoples minds but he will be fine GOD is watching him and has dispatched his Angels of protection over him. We ought to discuss how happy we will all be once he gets elected and how happy we are that he is about to make history with the Democratic Nomination. As black people we will always have a fight on our hands but we shall overcome. hey everyone
May 22, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Morning Yasmine. I agree with the statement that racist white are opening the discussion of it but I also that black folks don’t want to see that mess happen again, and while I’m not necessarily entertaining the thought, honestly it has crossed my mind. Yes, I believe he is being protected by God and he has a lot of support but being from the south, and I don’t know if I can speak for anyone else who is from the south, but i’ll just say this, I have a tendency to think the worst sometimes when it comes to race because I’ve experienced blatant racism, especially when I was in college. Obama becoming President will be monumental in terms of black history in America and we, the black nation, do indeed have a fight on our hands.
May 22, 2008 at 1:51 pm
sorry meant to say, I also think that black folks
May 22, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Morning all. Yasmine T. you make a very good point. We have to not think on bad things, because our thoughts become words, our words become action and action becomes our character.
Sweetthang, I know exactly where you are coming from because I am in the very place where Dr. King was gunned down. Being here sheds a whole new light on racism. I struggle to keep my mind from going toward negative thoughts about President Obama. I can only pray and cast down evil thoughts when it comes to that and pray that he is continually covered with the Blood of Jesus.
May 22, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Morning W2m! and that’s a daily struggle for me that I admit. I have to keep gearing my mind toward positive thoughts that somehow racism can get better in this country and everything doesn’t have to end tragically. I need much prayer
LOL but I do agree with you and Yasmine regarding not thinking on bad things.
May 22, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Racism will never disappear we have to as black people continue to rise above it and tap into our fullest potential. Yo W2m that is deep taht you live in Memphis. Yea that is where Dr. King was assassinated. Thats deep. Shout out to M.O. for covering Dr.King all of the time thats a goo look.
May 22, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Girl I know I need much prayer. Its hard because you only go by what you see. We have to learn to walk in the spirit, but we are flesh so we can’t do it all the time. I have fell down so many times, chile getting up sometimes feels like it ain’t an option.
@Udamnright, yep I was born and raised here. Its like I said in a post a week ago, if I can overcome racism in this place anyone can. I’m talking every day and history. My grandfather was ran out of Holly Springs, MS for whopping (spanking) a little white boy. My folk left with very little and came up to Memphis with other relatives and had to make a life here. My grands never painted an ugly or negative picture of whites before me and my siblings. I never knew about racism until I got much older.
May 22, 2008 at 4:28 pm
I must add that my grands and mom never let the us kids watch television when the riots and protest were going on. We were as kids oblivious to it all. We were only allowed to watch tv at certain times. They sheltered us a lot. So much of my history I had to learn later, even to family history because my grands had to change their name when they came up here so that the klan wouldn’t find them.
May 22, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Wow, that’s a great story W2m! I think what’s great is that they kinda sheltered you and never talked bad about white people in front of you teaching you to hate. If you can make it through that tough time, anyone can. It’s funny because when i moved to New Jersey, I felt like racism was viewed a little differently by blacks here. I mean, i came from a place where whenever i walked into a store at the mall i got trailed, we were called N iggers and Arabs and middle easterners were called sand niggers, i walked into a wendys with my white male friend (not boyfriend) and a lady looked at her husband and said i can’t believe he came in here with her…race is more accepted on the east coast just in my opinion, i mean you still have racists, but it’s not that crazy tension like back at home
man, I look up to you W2m!! I’ve got a lot to learn
May 22, 2008 at 4:40 pm
meant to say teaching you not to hate, sorry

I have just lived. I have friends from every spectrum of life, be they white, Asian, Hispanic, Indian. Then also working at a University allows me to meet different people. I could have easily taken what happened to my family and turned it into hatred, but why? Its ignorance. I’m a firm believe ignorance doesn’t mean you are dumb or incapable of learning. You just have to want to learn.
I will tell you that my niece was with me as I went to a ATM inside of K-Mart. My niece is very fair skinned with really long hair. Her father is bi-racial. Well because my niece was with me one would easily deduce that she was my daugther. I waited in line and a black man approached and stood behind us. I looked back and greeted him by nodding. He looked from me to my niece, then back to my niece again. He then looked at me and rolled his eyes. Why you might ask? Because he assumed that I had gotten with a white man and made this half-breed child. I take ignorance like that and toss it over my shoulder. I have had many episodes like that with white and black people. Its just stupidity.

I am from GEORGIA and we all know what it’s like in the south. Racism is still there. I am from Savannah and it is kind of segregated because the whites live on the south side and the blacks live on the west and east side. It is sad to say but in this new millenium we are still dealing with racism and although we want to think positive it is still going to be in the back of our minds especially if you have experienced racism such as I have. We are about to have an African American for president and unfortunately we as Blacks will encounter those same things that we thoughe we had overcame in the past. I believe we will overcome it once again but we have to be realistic.
May 22, 2008 at 10:17 pm
We must focus on the positive as a people. As many of you have already stated, racism and bigotry will never cease, but we as a people can continue to forge ahead and achieve new heights and attain mor4e victories.

Living in this country for fifty-seven years has taught me that a woman nor a black man will rule this country. This nation hasn’t grown beyond the Civil Rights Movement. If I am wrong, I will apologize to this country.
Please prove me wrong.
