Usher speaks on his mom

Usher spoke about him firing his mom…
Via Eurweb:
*Usher wants to make it clear that he did not fire his mother as his manager just days before Mother’s Day last year. He simply “retired her,” the singer says in Vibe magazine’s July issue.
He admits to having disagreements with his mom, Jonetta Patton, over what he felt was her lack of support. (Their fall out led to her skipping his wedding to Tameka Foster last August.) But he says the separation from his mother was necessary for his mother’s own sake.
“(I paid her) the ultimate compliment — to retire her to be a full-time grandmother,” said Usher, whose son with Foster is just over 6-months-old. “My mother and I decided to change her situation. There was a conversation. I didn’t write her a letter or pink slip her.”
The 29-year-old star admits the split was hard for him, but necessary for his career: “I hurt more than anything over these last two years when I felt my mother didn’t really embrace my situation. My mother is an aggressive person. She makes hard decisions, and she caused me to make a hard decision as well.”
Mediaoutrage- So it sounds like she wasn’t trying to let Tameka run things so she had to go. When he says his mom didn’t really embrace his situation he must be talking about his wife.

I like Usher, I really do, and who are we to judge his love and his situation. I kinda feel bad for all the scrutiny they are getting.

I don’t know….there’s something about “I had to retire her,” sounds so insulting. Like she was given some sort of privelage to be let go. I don’t know eh. I can see where you coming from sweetthang because you don’t see a lot of men not stand up for their women. I feel I a little bad about judging his relationship but THAT MOMS!

Its ashame but Tameka might be a nice woman but the vibe i get when i see her and i guess from all of the stuff said about her in the media is that she is a real controlling evil bitch.

Yes it’s messed up that we judge people whom we have never even met or ran a conversation with. But then again that goes with the territory that they;re in. It’s good Usher stood up for his wife then again what man wouldn’t? And in the whole thing of his wife and mother, when you marry a woman she is your other half so you have to choose her straight up.

wow, when you put it like that Eddie M. it does make sense. Tameka probably has her guard up due to all the media attacks, I’d probably be walking around too looking I’m gonna shoot somebody or blow up their house if I was being harrassed all the time. The mama situation is messed up though, I don’t know

This is my opinion….Usher’s mother and he had a very close relationship because she was a single mother raising both him and his younger brother so Usher was not just a son to her but also the MAN OF THE HOUSE. They also worked closely together and as his manager she had complete control over all aspects of his life. I believe that as Usher starting growing up he started to come into his own…become his own person…which is completely normal. Of course he dated and had girlfriends but nothing that she should feel threatened over until he and Tameka became a couple. I believe that Tameka is a very strong woman who knows what she wants and that is what he needs. I believe that for the first time his mother felt like she no longer had control and that made her insecure. Regardless of who he married, she would still have some sort of problems with because of the feeling of losing her son…but she gained a daughter in law and a grandson and it is sad if she doesn’t realize that. I really never believed that he fired her, I think he did what he said he did..he retired her. Her place in his life has changed …she is his mother and the grandmother to his son. There are needs that she will never be able to fulfill for her son and besides his love for his mom and his wife is completely different. If it wasn’t going to happen with Tameka, it was going to be someone so either way she would no longer be the number 1 woman in his life. I am glad to see Usher stand up and be a REAL man. He is the perfect example of what so many young men should aspire to be like. There is nothing more sexier than a hardworking black man that loves his family. I believe that he still loves his mother whole heartedly but now he has a wife and he does not need her in the way that he used to. I wish Usher and Tameka nothing but the best. The saying goes….”TO LOVE YOUR DAUGHTER IN LAW IS THE WAY TO KEEP YOUR SON CLOSE TO YOU”!
