Jay-Z continues to extend his trail of greatness in which no rapper might ever be able to catch by accomplishing things and journeying down roads untraveled by any hip-hop artist. Two Saturdays ago Jigga’s performance at Glastonbury was an absolute first for any rapper. He received starch criticism once he was announced on the ticket. So what does Jay go and do in the face of (racist) criticism? Throws down a legendary performance making the entire hip-hop world proud as usual. Here’s what Hov had to say about the criticism….
Via ContactMusic:
“If we don’t embrace what is new, then how do we progress?” he asked.
“I’ve never actually experienced anything like that before,” he continued.
“It’s 2008, what is that about? That’s such old school thinking, that’s not even how the world thinks anymore. So I was really taken aback [by the criticism].” Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Vick has done the smart thing which is filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy to protect his assets from creditors that he owes in between $10-$50million. He filed in Newport News VA yesterday. Also apart of the debt is a portion of his signing bonus with the Falcons. Vick says he hopes he can rebuild his image, spiritual life, and resume his career once he finishes serving out his sentence. We know how good he was at penetrating NFL defenses but we just hope that there’s not any other kind of penetration taking place in the cing cing.

Mariah Carey covers the newest issue of Elle Magazine and had some interesting things to say about her marriage to Nick Cannon. SMH that they’re continuing up this farce.

Here’s what Mimi had to say about her marriage to Nick Cannon…..
“We really kept the whole relationship aspect of it quiet,” “Therefore, we didn’t really ‘date,’ you know what I mean? Because that would have been not quiet or private. I think we didn’t want to give people a chance to be like, ‘What are you doing? What are you talking about? This is so quick… are you sure?”

Usher and his son Usher Raymond V cover the August issue of Essence. Here’s what Usher had to say about his family….
Via BlackCelebKids:
On being a father [Usher] says, “He’s gonna admire me, he’s gonna look up to me. He’s gonna say, ‘I wanna be’ or he should say – ‘I wanna be like my father.”
When asked about his marriage to Tameka, Usher responds, “They think that it was forced. I’ve heard a lot of comments like, “Oh, she trapped him.” “He got a baby by her, and then she’s married and she’s set for life.No. She wasn’t pregnant when I asked her to marry me. There’s some sort of huge conspiracy over this, the fact that I made these choices in my life. No I grew older. As a man, I have to take responsibility and take a hold of my life. I’m accountable for what happens to my life now.”
Mediaoutrage- Usher sounds like he is defending his choice to marry Tameka which shouldn’t be. Let folk speculate and criticize all day because at the end of the day you married her and love her so who cares what we or anyone else thinks.

This is a rather strange phobia but that’s what makes us individuals. Oprah doesn’t allow her employees to chew gum in the building nor does she herself chew it….
Via ContactMusic:
has a phobia of chewing gum that stems from her childhood – when her grandmother would stick her used gum on her own furniture.
The multi-millionaire chat show host, 50, is so anti-gum, she banned the substance from the building where she records her TV programme in Chicago, Illinois.
Winfrey says, “My grandmother used to save it in little rows in the cabinet. I’d be scared to touch it because it was so gross, so I have a thing about gum.
“One guest in my home sat at the dinner table, took out some gum from her mouth and put it on her plate – after she left, I threw the plate out.”
Mediaoutrage- We’re guessing that you wouldn’t be fired for chewing gum in her presence. Well we hope not. That’s definitely a strange phobia. What are some of your phobias? Please don’t none of yall say using DEODORANT.

Ashanti recently spoke to Pr.com. Here’s what the sexy chanteuse had to say….
Via PR.com:
PR.com: I don’t know if this is true, but I heard that at the BET Awards you were star struck by Rihanna and wanted to sit next to her to get her autograph? Is that true?
Ashanti: You heard what!?! (Laughs) Where’d you hear that?
PR.com: Internet rumors.
Ashanti: Be honest Allison. Does that sound true (laughs)?
PR.com: I’ve been doing this a long time. Nothing surprises me anymore.
Ashanti: (Laughs) No.
PR.com: Is there anybody who does make you star struck? Is there anybody you’ve performed with where you did feel nervous, or it did feel surreal to you?
Ashanti: At the pre-dinner for the BET Awards I had the opportunity, it was so spontaneous… Anita Baker, Jill Scott, and Maxwell were up on the stage and they were singing. Jill Scott performed. She did an amazing show and she just did this freestyle at the end of the performance. So she was just singing, singing, singing and it broke down acapella. Nelly was actually hosting the dinner, so he was grabbing all the singers out of the audience and pushing them up onstage. He loves Anita Baker! So he pushed her up onstage, then Maxwell went up onstage and then they pushed me up on the stage and I was on the stage with Anita Baker, Maxwell and Jill Scott. That was amazing for me! Trina is now denying rumors that she has in her possession a recorded conversation of her and Young Buck in which he gets emotional again by telling her he loves her and apologizing for making songs where he glamorized sleeping with her.
Via AHH:
“That’s not true. I don’t know where that came from,” Trina clarified to AllHipHop.com. “When I heard it I was like ‘wow this is crazy.’ But rumors are always rumors and that is not true.”
Trina further cleared up the whisperings of if Young Buck ever discussed with her the specifics of his problems with 50 Cent.
“We don’t talk like that,” she explains. “So I would have no idea why I’m even incorporated in that whole situation.”
Mediaoutrage- It’s good that Trina’s denying possessing the tape (which she probably does have and has already played for half of Miami), because we don’t think Buck’s career can handle another one of these.
