Terrence Howard: Bill Cosby had me blackballed
Posted by Media Outrage on July 16, 2008
Terrence Howard has come out and revealed some rather interesting and surprising information about the start of his acting career.
Via Eurweb:
*Terrence Howard said he was so angry over being cut from a part in “The Cosby Show” that he confronted the program’s famous star to vent his frustration – only to find himself briefly blacklisted in the entertainment business.
“I was 19 and had just moved to New York from Cleveland, I got on ‘The Cosby Show’ on my second audition ever,” Howard said, according to WENN.
He explains: “I told him, ‘I’m a man just like you.’ He didn’t like it, and the casting agent never took my calls again.”
Howard says he didn’t work for four years, but eventually bounced back to launch a successful acting career – landing an Academy Award nomination in 2006 for his role in “Hustle & Flow.”
Mediaoutrage- Interesting. We know that sort of thing happens all of the time in the entertainment industry. Think about it that’s what 50 Cent said that some of the major players tried to do to him after he released that song how to rob, in which he humorously described how he would rob Diddy, Jay-Z and a few other titans. Black balling is real fo sho. So Cosby got gangsta with it. But then again Howard sounds like he might have been a little out of pocket by speaking to a legend such as Cosby in that manner. There’s a way to do everything in decency and order.

I WILL HAVE TO DISAGREE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU WANT.
AND WOULD HAVE STEP TO BILL TO. THINK ABOUT IT IF BILL WOULD HAVE FELT SORRY FOR HIM HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A STAR YEARS EARLY.
BUT GOD WANTED THAT BROTHER TO WORK AND NOT RIDE THE COSBY TICKET.
YOU HAVE TO STEP ON TOES AND HOES TO GET TO THE TOP.

Cosby is a powerful man but he gets out of place when he trips off of it. He is not the first black actor to do that to another black actor. That was the reason Micheal Eric Dyson wrote that book about Bill Cosby being out of touch with black youth. Look how he comes at all young black comedians from Jamie Foxx to Eddie Murphy. He needs to stop tripping off the brothas and stop drugging up those white women and uplift the youth like before!

I think that’s what’s wrong with this world. “EGO” True, Cosby has paid his dues, however he’s still just a man like Terrance said. Okay so he didn’t like Terrance’s confidence but it’s just plain ego tripping to black ball the man. I can understand him not doing anything to help Terrance but to hinder his success is wrong! Never the less, Terrance confidence got him where he was suppose to be!

DT when did Michael Eric Dyson write that because I’d love to read that one.

Google Micheal Eric Dyson and you will see the list of books. I think it’s his latest one but I forgot the name…

No…I think I know Terrance’s style is ol’ school hollywood from the 1940’s Harlem Renaissance era or something like that!

Terrence has no respect for anyone. There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. Terrence is arrogant to the capital A. If he stepped to me with his arrogant attitude, I would have effed him up too. Come to me with respect, if not, get to steppin. And really, I don’t get the point of bringing up the past. You are working, be happy, a lot of people can’t even say that.

yeah his hair is kinda jacked up but those eyes….id forgive the eddie munster haircut..those eyes are enchanting.

Yall have got to realize that Bill was one of those dude that broke the doors down so that black actors and comedians can be doing what they are doing today. Bill had it hard and dude sacraficed a lot and Im sure he was called N!@@a a lot. I think Bill has earned the right to demand his respect from some of the younger brothas and sistas in the game. Terrance might be a man just like Bill is, but he is not the man that Bill is. Give Bill his respect. He put his nuts and his life on the line for the Black entertainer.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go home and put some water in Buc Nasty’s mamma’s dish, Good Evening
