This is a tough one, at first I would say Halle because she is an actress, with movies that are released internationally, BUT Beyonce has campaigns in many countries as well as her music…. so I think Lady Bee is the bigger celebrity… sorry halle

Halle is the better actress but the truth is Bey has conquered the music industry and now she is building up her resume’ and she will eventually conquer the movie biz….it’s just a matter of time! She is more famous because she has covered every aspect of the entertainment business…she was a part of the best selling female group of all times…an outstanding solo career…successful clothing line…and now she has two movies coming out…she really has it on lock..SORRY YASMINE!!! lol lol…she will have an oscar by the time she is 30!

Halle Berry is a much more bankable star. Halle Berry is an award winning actress (Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, etc. etc. etc. so on and so forth), she is a fashion model, she is a beauty queen, as well as a business woman. She recently signed a multi-million dollar deal with the perfume company Coty, Inc. Celebrities of Halle’s calibre, and there are very few, make anywhere from $3-$5 million up front with a royalty of about 5 percent. Halle’s contract with Coty, Inc. was much more lucrative. Halle makes anywhere from $10 million to $20 million per movie. I am sure Halle’s Revlon endorsement as well as Pepsi endorsement is much more lucrative than Beyonce’s Covergirl and Pepsi endorsement. Back in 2003, Halle Berry was named the most poppular celebrity endorser. Beyonce was number two. Sure Beyonce has music on her resume as well as the tacky clothing line. However, that by all reports is not doing well. I’m sure that the tacky clothing line has not been kind to her bottom line.
Remember this from Newsweek:
“Despite millions of dollars worth of media exposure, including a debut on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Beyoncé’s House of Dereon line has failed to catch fire with consumers. No matter how famous the product’s provenance, if it fails to impress women on its own merits it begins to resemble a cynical exercise in self-promotional marketing.”
Both Halle and Beyonce are both Black entertainers who profiled repeatedly in mainstream entertainment media that is dominated by White celebrities.
Halle Berry had a way more normal childhood that was not dominated by her parent’s assinine and starry-eyed pursuits. In high school Berry was a cheerleader, class president, and prom queen. She graduated high school and even attended college (although she did not graduate college).
IMHO, this is like comparing apples to oranges. Beyonce is not in Halle Berry’s league. Yes, she is good at what she does from a musical standpoint. However, from an overall standpoint, there is no comparison.

And yes Halle has been in movies when Beyonce ws in grade school but did you also take into account that the same movies Halle was in while Beyonce was growing up don’t do shit overseas? Worldwide audiences don’t shell out money like that for movies Halle used to be in. Beyonce went to India, Turkey and Russia of all places and sold out shows. She’s internationally known so even though Halle’s been out there longer, people recognize Beyonce first.

B has a crappy personality, anyone who has ever seen a Loreal commercial or her whack interviews on TV should be able to make an educated guess that the chick was pretty much raised by the media, has no social skills, clearly showing she has no personality. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, B is talented from a singing standpoint, but that’s it. Hell, Michael Jackson is the biggest star in the world, but that doesn’t mean he’s not crazy and doesn’t like to molest little boys. More people may know B around the world, that doesn’t mean she should be the biggest celeb. Like Jules said, comparing them is like apples to oranges, there is no comparison!

We are just trying to have fun. This site is all about fun. It is not a serious site. It is a site for people who have balance in their lives (know when to take life serious and when to let our hair blow through the breeze).
So just because you said it, it is so? No way. This is a blog where we are free to provide our opinions as it relates to celebrities, news, gossip, etc. It is a bit disconcerting when people are not allowed to freely give their opinion yet have to be subjected to the opinion of others. I am sure that no one that is enjoying the discourse take ourselves or opinions too seriously as it relates to celebrities, news, gossip, etc. This is just a forum whereas we can have friendly discord and act like we know what we are talking about. Kristina, don’t condemn us because we know how to have a healthy exchange of opinions and rhetoric. Just learn from us.
One more thing, if the exchange of opinions regarding celebrities is too small-minded for you, then why are you visiting a site whereas people exchage their opinions regarding celebrities? Go to the Wall Street Journal Site or the Journal of American Medicine.

I can’t think of the last box office hit Halle Berry had. It’s like she had a new movie out every three months and none of them do well. name one that did good at the box office since monster’s ball, you can’t. Beyonce is by FAR the bigger celebrity. Even though I think Beyonce has A LOT to learn about acting, people go to her movies just because she’s in them; certainly not for the acting.

Its like Prince once said,”He has nothing left to prove. He can make a song about anything and it will sell.” Same goes for Halle Berry…she is beyond Beyonce’s current aspirations. Whether or not she has another big movie hit (which she has had post Monster’s Ball and that movie was really not a big hit so to speak; namely, it was a critical success because of her role in the movie) she has proven herself over and over and over again. She will still walk away from every movie role $10-20+ million dollars richer.
Halle is not a media sensation. Rather, she is a gifted actor that hardly any woman, regardless of race, can contend with in Hollywood. She is taken serious by everyone in Hollywood. It does not matter about her worldwide appeal because if there is any money to be made for being an entertainer it will definitely be in America. As long as Halle Berry has relevence in the United States then she will go a long way in the entertainment industry.
Halle Berry is most definitely a made woman. If Beyonce was able to rest on the laurels of her talent, like Halle Berry, and still make millions of dollars a year, then you could measure her “success” differently. I would like to see staying power with Beyonce. She does not have that yet. She is merley a flickering star that can be easily dimmed with one boring song or another movie role whereas she is outshined by the supporting actress. She has learned the art of taking sex appeal to the next level and her father has marketed her sex appeal almost to a fault. That is clever on both parts. Her next album, “Intellectual Virtuoso” could very well be what causes people to shy away from her. It would be interesting to see if people are ready to take her serious sans the butt and hips flailing across stage.
Has Beyonce or Destiny’s Child ever put out a classic single or a classic album? No. Has Beyonce ever brought forth a memorable movie role? No. Has Beyonce had a fragrance that has the lasting appeal of say “White Diamonds” by ELizabeth Taylor? No. Has Beyonce ever been on a best-dressed list? No. That is the sad part too since she has a clothing line. Even a jaded newcomer like Rihanna is killing her on the fashion frontier.
Beyonce is solely profiting off of watered-down talent. She has stage presence and and sex appeal which has contributed to her “success.” You can put any beautiful girl with mediocre talent in a group surrounded by average looking girls with mediocre talent and the one with the best looks will stand out. Plain and simple. Look at the Pussycat Dolls or any of the other girl groups that have had “breakout stars.” What has been the common denominator? One beautiful chic surrounded by two or three average looking chics. Beauty and money seek each other out. Period. Point blank. Beyonce is able to be the cream of the crop simply because she has no real competition amongst the demographics that she is seeking to support her goals and ambitions. Also, her father (a salesman) recognized that his daughter had to have the most favorable looks in the group. I don’t blame her for milking the cow dry. She better at least while she is ahead because trust and believe there will be (and is) sexually appealing and watered down competition waiting in the wind to knock her off her pedestal. So she better do best to find relevency as quickly as possible with this next album. If Rihanna wasn’t so uninterested in being a star, she could probably give Beyonce a run for her money. She wants Chris Brown more than she wants stardom.

Halle might not have starred in nothing but blockbusters but she is one hell of an actress. I think she and Beyonce are neck in neck as far as fame is concerned.
Both are excellent at their craft.

Yeah, this one is hard, If I had to pick, I would say Halle has Beyonce beat by a hair. But if Beyonce gets an Oscar by the age of 30, it will cost her $39.99 because she would have bought it from a pet store to put in her fish tank. Beyonce’s acting skills are so bad she couldnt play Beyonce Knowles in the the story of the a group called Destiny Child’s rise to fame.

Lmao @ 2020! I still say its Beyonce, if you mean who is the bigger celebrity. If I showed a pic of Beyonce to anyone from 3 yrs old to 50 yrs old, they would recognize her. Not Halle. You would really only know Halle if you see her movies. Not all people go to movies, but everyone listens to music or stands in line at a grocery store and Bey is on every cover. If you asked who is more beautiful or makes more money per movie, or has more class, it would be Halle. I only stated Bey because she is recognizable in any country! I hate Bey like the next person, I think she sings worse than my 6 yr old niece and I think her clothing line needs Kimora at the helm. But as someone else said, her dad, the salesman, made sure she was on every radio station, every mag cover, every red carpet, every video on BET and MTV. So if anyone has that much PR they too will be as famous. That’s great for Bey, but I felt she was shoved down our throats so much, a lot of us are just sick of her ass. Just my opinion.

Both are very famous women, but in her field Beyonce is tops she has more going on for her than most. Halle is an accomplished actress, but her looks pushed her ahead also!! I belive in the acting game no-one tops Sanaa Lathan a newcomer compared to Halle but much better actress. So they are front-runners in their own league. And Jennifer Hudson did steal the show in “Dream Girls” she is an extraordinary singer. But by popularity and money and exposure she is not a threat to Bey. Very few can top J’s voice, but Bey is on a road by HERSELF.. I vote for both in their own field…

#2 site to name recognition of a media icon

I’d say Halle is the bigger celebrity. She has been a popular actress since the early 90s and, with her movies, she has a consistent international audience and the accompanying media attention.

Beyonce,because she’s another young wealthy entrepeneur..She’s conquered music,movies,clothing lines,perfume,loreal and feria endorsements etc..the list goes on and on! I wouldnt be surprised if she had her own wig line or talk show in the future!
