Letter To MediaOutrage

Posted by Media Outrage on October 5, 2008

We recieve nice emails all of the time from our readers, publicist, musical artist, models, business persons and others. We rarely share any of the writings by posting them on the site because most of the time it’s not really anything that you would enjoy reading. But this particular email got our attention so we decided to post it so you would be able to read also. This email comes from a gentlemen who says he is an avid reader of M.O.. He had some interesting things to say about some of the topics and people we post about. Just check it out for yourself

We with held his name for privacy reasons and respect for him.

The email:

“Hi Mediaoutrage,

I just want to say that I read your site just about every day. I live in NY and depend on you to provide my daily dose of celebrity entertainment. You guys or gals do a great job at mixing up the news you deliver by being versatile. I am especially glad that you have taken so much time to cover the political race as the voter registration deadline creeps on us.

That brings me to some of my displeasure with your staff of writers. While I am so glad that you have placed politics in the forefront of your news, I am deeply saddened that you have also chosen your site to brainwash thousands of readers into thinking that Sen. Barack Obama walks on water. I like Sen. Obama but you have painted a false pristine image of the man which is unfair, and harmful for the young voters that read your site everyday as I do. The difference is, that I happen to be 37, and am very familiar with the political process, and that both candidates will say or do just about anything to get in office. I am not aware of what your daily traffic is like, but do realize that Mediaoutrage is becoming pretty popular on the net. My race is not important but I was introduced to your site by a female friend of mine who is very reserved and happens to be a die hard Republican. I just want you guys to paint a more realistic picture of both candidates that’s all. I won’t disclose who I’m voting for as that is private but will say that Sen. Obama is a great candidate.

Thanks for your time Mediaoutrage! Keep on doing what you do”

Mediaoutrage- We have to respond to this. Ok where do we begin? To that reader who’s name will remain anonymous: We have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama here at Mediaoutrage. We have not painted Sen. Obama out to be something that he is not. We have simply provided the facts of the campaign. Once again what we do is for humor and entertainment. We know our readers are extremely intelligent as they prove everyday by leaving some of the insightful comments that they do. So with that said we know that no matter what we post they have minds of their own and will do what they want. We just want EVERYONE to get out and vote. And to that reader if you go back and check our postings we have said that we support Obama but do believe in trying to persuade others. But thanks for the email. Most of all thanks for checking us out every day! Appreciate it!

Yes i am pretty informed on who i want and what they stand for just so happen many others agree with me.

  2. Control Freak Says:

Exactly, go Obama/Biden 08. By far the better ticket. McPalin-impossible.

  3. Anon Says:

I happen to not be an Obama or Mccain supporter at all but I think this site is extremely fair. I refuse to believe in a politician, that is just me. I, however, believe Obama is better than Mccain and that is all I need. Do I agree with his stances? No, I do not. I do like him as a person not particularly. Do I believe he is better than Bush? Yes, I do. I don’t believe in a change in Washington. There is no such thing as a different kind of politician. You are either a politician or you are not. That does not make a man evil. I respect everyone’s opinions. I’m not gungho or a believer in the change and hope mantra. I just know as a Democrat, he is better for the country than Mccain.

  4. Lio Says:

Anybody with a head on their shoulder will make their own decision in November. Yes Mediaoutrage is endorsing Sen.Obama, and yes they are make fun of McCain/Palin, but if you search the internet, you will find blogs that support McCain and paint him as a “savior”, and that makes fun of Obama. It’s not brainwashing, it’s politics.

  5. Yea I Said It Says:

Sen Obama was my choice after the first debate. As I have stated I initally, firmly planted in the Clinton corner for all the wrong reasons. After the first debate I found Sen Obamas agenda more to what I am looking for from the next president. From there i did my own reserch, of both candidates and where they stand on issues that matter most to me, While i agree he does have the experience, he has the freshness and still some what outside of Washington I want in the White House. At the time I did not know of MediaOutrage. While i applaud MediaOutrage for keeping me informed, I will be 23 in one week, my mind is not young and impressionable to the point I choose whom I will vote for based on an entertainment web-site. I have a great appreciation for all viewpoints expressed on this site by my peers, whether i agree with them or not. When i sign off once again i reserch what they have said and ponder why they came to their beliefs. The mind is filled with a wealth of knowledge when it’s fed, It’s when you allow others to feed it for you is when is lacks understanding and information. To the writer of the email, I have found through my peers we would rather feed our minds ourselves.

  6. Yea I Said It Says:

In my haste to type,I misspelled the word research, and he does not have the experience. Sorry just so you know, there will be many more times i misspell words, charge it to my hurry and not my brain power.

  7. Smurfette Says:

To MO reader, I feel what you are saying, MO is clearly is endorsing one candidate and not the other and that is their right. I don’t think they paint Obama as Pristine. I do think they clearly support him! As do I. But NOT because MO does. But because I listen to both candidates. And to tell the truth, I have been undecided for a lonnnng time and just recently decided on Obama. Now, me choosing to support Obama doesn’t take away my respect for a man like McCain. He is a great man as well, with a colorful past, personal and political. I don’t doubt he is capable of leading the country, but I just seem to identify more with Obama’s platform. Period.

  8. ucanb2 Says:

Thanks for your viewpoint and beliefs.. as well as all of us that visit this site have ours. I am personally a Democrat, and I am will vote for Obama. But I do know that he is just a ‘man’ like everyone else, he can’t work miracles but he can try and bring a “much needed change” to this Great Country.
I say your vote is your choice and/or your voice. So speak out America, whichever way that is.

  9. Kristina Says:

Yeah great that he got his opinion out or whatnot but is there anyone actually coming online and letting anyone else form their opinion about who they should vote for? If you haven’t done your research by reading up on what the candidates want to bring to the table if they’re elected as well as past records and the differences then boo on you. There isn’t a site out here that can sway your vote but simply give you insight on how they feel and additional information. I highly doubt anyone is going to the poll and say well MO said vote Barack, I don’t know jack about him but I trust him. No your idea was formed with who you wanted to go wtih a long time ago and this great site only reminded us that Mccain’s a wack job anad Palin’s a joke. Go sit down and suck a cough drop brah, aint nobody here making Barack out to be Jesus.

  10. beach chick Says:

I think it is only fair that M.O. have an opinion just as all of those other websites do. M.O. has simply provided a platform for each one of us to freely express our opinions and as far as I see it they provide just as much information about McCain-Palin as they provide about Obama regardless of it being positive or negative. Every single time that Palin says something stupid (which is pretty much every time she talks) M.O. has covered it. Whenever McCain’s old wrinkly ass speaks…M.O. is right there to let us know about it. When Obama (our future President who speaks so profoundly, (which is every time he opens his mouth) M.O. is right there to give him kudos. See all of the bases are covered..everyone gets a shot in the spotlight!!! We know Obama is not God, but for most of us living in this effed up country right now…he is pretty damn close! If he can turn this economy around…shoot he can part the SEA and TURN WATER INTO WINE as far as I am concerned.

    OBAMA ‘08

ONE DAY LEFT TO REGISTER TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE PLEASE!!!!!!!

  11. Yvonne Says:

Yes I am going to vote and I am an older black female, but who I vote for is NOT GOING TO BE ON THE COLOR OF THE CANDITATE.

I want someone to be in office who really is for the “average” citizen.

To be really honest, I don’t think either candidate can accomplish that to the degree that we may want it to be.

It does not matter what bill eiher canditate wants to pass, if the House or the Senate does not approve it to the majority, the bill will not pass.

Please people…don’t think because there is a black man running for president and his chances, at this point, seems like it could be a good possibilty he could be president, that all of our problems can be solved.

If he is going to be a good president he will do his best to make this society better for ALL, not just for the Black race.

  12. Yasmine T. Says:

There’s no way a site could persuade me to vote for someone that I had no intention of backing. But Barack 08 everyone!!!

  13. 2020VIZN Says:

The country’s economy is in shambles our realtions with other countries is at an all time low, the United states is the new outcast in the world. I know that Obama is not a savior but I do think that he is the best person that we have at this point. I am extremely excited about this historic moment but at the same time I feel sorry for Obama because if he wins he will be handed a big steaming pile of doo doo. This is what GWB’s successor will have to deal with. One thing that we are going to have to do is rally behind the administration and give a push where we can because there are those that are gonna put their hands behind their back and hope this man falls flat on his face.

I know that no one is perfect but as a man that has tried to do the right thing for the peopel that work with and for me, I have been the victm of blatant lies and the subject of hate, so I know how he feels when these people tell lies about him without reguard and hopes it gets the the ears of a few to do put another crack in his foundation. I am tired of the way things are done, I am tired of hate, racism, greed and evil. I need a change no matter if it is ever so slight, I need change.

  14. Yea I Said It Says:

@2020.. So much hate, evil and racist people are a part of my family bloodline, it’s enough to make me want to sometime find a new family. I can’t for the life of me figure out how one family can have so much hate for a race of people based on thier skin color. Like you there have been blatant lies told on us, and we are the subject of hate all because my mother choose to marry a black man.Somedays it’s hard to put one step in front of the other without wanting to resort to out and out murder. I wish my mother had stayed with her own race, if she had my sister would know where she belones, my brother would’nt be in another country trying to find himself and I would’nt have such distaste for white people.I love my genes, however I don’t like anyone in my mothers family. My fathers side teach love and the bible to us whenever we see them especially my grandmother, but right now I don’t want ot hear it so I push on. Push on 2020 and f*ck everbody and f*uck it all.

  15. w2m Says:

To the person who wrote the email I will say this. Give young people more credit. These are folk who can navigate the internet better than most. I’m sure they are smart enough to make informed decisions based on the facts not based on what site, magazine, newspaper or network endorses who.

    With that said.

    Vote for CHANGE…Obama-Biden ‘08

  16. Dickwell Thrust Says:

Anyone that could possibly vote for an old fart and the dumbest female politician ever really isnt thinking clearly.

  17. Yvonne Says:

I will probably get a lot of backlash from this post but I have got to be honest with my fellow posters as I am with myself.

I AM BLACK AND I AM NOT VOTING IN THIS ELECTION.

And don’t come out saying my vote counts, because in reality it does not.

If I was to vote it would be for Barack Obama because I really think he wants to improve the conditions in this country for ALL.

It is sad to say, but conditions in this country WILL NOT CHANGE THAT MUCH, no matter who is in charge.

The President DOES NOT HAVE ABSOLUTE power and if the House or Senate wants to veto a bill that the President wants to pass it will be a moot point.

If Barack Obama was elected to be the President, IMO, it will always be people in government who will dislike him just because he is black, not on his views, and will fight him all the way to keep him down.

One more thing, and I pray this will never happen, is that there are so many loonies out there who are prejudiced. I also fear that his life will constantly be in danger of people trying to assinate him.

If they did it with JFK and tried it with Ronald Regan and these men were white, then you know what it will be like for Barack Obama.

I don’t care what anybody says, this world is not getting better it is getting worse.

  18. Yasmine T. Says:

    Hi Yvonne,

I want to say that every vote does count. As MO keeps stating our fore fathers had dogs sicked on them, were lynched, spit on, brutally attacked, and killed for you and I to have the opportunity to vote in any ELECTION. I won’t come at you but will say that it is almost like YOU spitting in their faces when you refuse to take part and express your voice. Yes we are all aware that it takes more than the President to change the country, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible.

As far as his life; I pray for the man every chance I get, and I know I’m not alone. He has millions of people praying for the safety of he and his family everyday. I trust GOD period and point blank. When our people were enslaved it didn’t look like we’d ever be free, but that didn’t stop our brave ancestors from continuing to FIGHT FOR OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO BE FREE AND EQUAL. Back then we faced way more opposition than we do now. When they finally signed that bull sh*t Emancipation Proclamation that Lincoln didn’t really want to sign with his racist ass, we still weren’t really free, but that didn’t stop our ancestors from fighting to achieve complete EQUALITY. So why should we stop FIGHTING NOW? It’s an insult to ALL WHO CAME BEFORE US AND SUFFERED FOR THIS IF WE STOP NOW.

  19. w2m Says:

    Well said Yasmine T.

  20. vanessa 77 Says:

    yes well said Yasmine!

    Obama 08!!!

    I just registered today!

  21. Yvonne Says:

Thank you Yasmine for your comments and you make a lot of sense.

Believe me I don’t give up when I think there is a chance to change injustice.

Trust me when I say I wish with ALL my heart for this man to be elected President and continues TO STAY IN OFFICE and make effective the policies he holds dear to his heart to make significant changes for all, but there is a “hold back” feeling in my heart and I am going to follow that. I just have a bad feeling about this.

There are not a lot of people who feel this way, that is why I say my vote is not going to make or break who wins this election.

Thank you for your concern and I hope my reluctance concerning this matter turns out to be false. I really do.

  22. positive thought Says:

    @ Yvonne-

Here’s something to think about: You say that your vote doesn’t count and won’t make or break the outcome of this very important election. Think about how many other young black men and women are thinking the same thing and then subtract them from the voting booths on November 4th, and you have thousands if not hundreds of thousands of intelligent able bodied voices that won’t speak. Trust and believe there are thousands of people thinking the same exact thoughts that you have expressed on this site. So in reality your vote does count.

    Have a great night.

  23. positive thought Says:

One more thing before I go; it’s thinking like that which enabled George W. Bush to steal the last 2 elections.

  24. Dickwell Thrust Says:

Everyone’s vote counts. We have got to stop this backwards thought process that 1 vote dosent matter. One less vote for Obama is 1 more for McCaine. This niggarific slavery mentality prevented voters in Miss, Ala. And GA in the earlier part of the 20th Century and it’s still going on. Damn wake the hell up people!!!!!

(yes, i made up a word called “niggarific” because that’s what we are when we dont vote!)

  25. 2020VIZN Says:

@ Yea I Said It: My situation isnt exactly like yours but to make a long story short. My mother and father are black but my father Married a white woman when I was 12 years old, I lived with him for two years after he married her. It was hell because the difference in race was always an issue for some reason. Her parents were not fond of blacks and people on my mother’s side of the family wanted to know why wasnt a black woman good enough for him to marry. I know that there are good people on both sides of the rainbow but people still dont like to accept you for who you are without judging you by looks and stereotypes and that is sad. But Thank you for sharing with me because I have the same frustrations and feelings that you have. But I know you are a strong woman and there is no need to tell you to keep on pushing because I know that you will and so will I. Im strong in the struggle with you ma!

  26. Yea I Said It Says:

@2020, Now I know somebody else understands… Thank you, Someone said to me not everything is about race, in my world it is, not because I make it so but when you live and breathe issues with race everyday it becomes a wall put up to keep ignorance out.I look at Sen Obama and often wonder how many times he has to deal with the color of his skin when he would rather deal with the issues that affect us all.It becomes hard to keep up on a daily base, and not become the people I despise, which would make me no better than them. When i read where somebody gets what i am saying and understand its all good. So I thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  27. 2020VIZN Says:

@ Yea I Said It: No thnk you. If you will allow me to tell you a line fro the movie hustle and flow that explains the way I view you. “I got love for you, not like a man loves a woman. I got love for you because tou gat balls, big ole gorilla balls” I think you should look into a public servent, not necessarily a politician, but an activist or something like that because you are a leader. You could be the pied piper. Good Evening!!!
