He's not amused

Posted by Media Outrage on October 10th, 2008

Magic Johnson caught wind of some insensitive statements made about him, by Minneapolis radio host Chris Baker and Langdon Perry, and was not amused. The two joked saying they think Magic faked having AIDS. Their exact words:

On The Chris Baker Show, Minneapolis radio host Langdon Perry stated, “I’m convinced that Magic [Johnson] faked AIDS,” to which host Baker replied, “Yeah, me too.” Perry then called Johnson “the only cured AIDS guy ever.”

For Magic’s response

Magic’s response:

“I am extremely disappointed in KTLK in Minneapolis. I am outraged that Chris Baker and Langdon Perry would minimize such a serious and deadly issue. Millions are dying from HIV/AIDS and the fact that they would make jokes about my status is unbelievable,” Johnson said. “Chris, Langdon and KTLK should use their power in a more positive light by encouraging people to get tested for this disease instead of making up such ridiculous lies.”

Can you blame them? I’m convinced he’s cured..His ass should’ve been dead by now…if not dead…extremely ill…He looks healthier than a non-aids patient!

I’m not an expert on aids, however I do have a friend born with it, and he maintains a healthy lifestyle alone with the medication he takes. He eats healthy, excercise, does’nt smoke or drink. I would imagine Magic had alot to do with how his illness is treated same as my friend. I do know with todays medicine, Aids does not have to be the death sentence it once was.I find it sad when people have the power of the radio or any other media outlet and use it for ignorance. I am sure his family is thankful he is still around. I for one am happy, the longer his life expectancy, the longer I feel my friend will be live.

@ Yes I said it – That is sooo true….the meds available now are more productive, efficient and effective in allowing Aid patients to sustain healthy lifestyles! These a$$ holes obviously have nothing else to discuss on their weak show!!

That is the reason why there so many people uneducated on the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Instead of using that opportunity as a platform to educate they would rather send out that type of ignant message. It is quite apparent that those two are uneducated on the subject as well.
