More Text Messages Revealed

More text messages have been revealed from the phone of disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. The phones are such a dangerous medium to communicate on, when doing dirt. Peep some more of Kwame Kilpatrick’s text messages, that he exchanged while abusing his authority left and right. We spotted this juicy article HERE!
Via Freep:
Below are the most recent Free Press findings from hundreds of text messages released by prosecutors today in the perjury prosecution of Christine Beatty:
Updated at 8:14 p.m.
Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick bragged that he occasionally liked to ditch his full-time security, sneak out of the Manoogian Mansion and drive around the streets of Detroit, a routine now referred to as “Kwame Time.”
He and Beatty sometimes messaged each other about whether he could get free of prying eyes for a rendezvous, which often happened late at night.
Members of the police executive protection unit, including Kilpatrick’s longtime pal and team leader Officer Loronzo (Greg) Jones, didn’t like their charge sneaking off.
Check out these exchanges from August 2002:
10:16 p.m. Aug. 1
Greg Jones: “How are you going to play me going for a ride without me. … I’m your homeboy let me know big man… “
(no response from Kilpatrick is noted in the messages released today.)
12:37 a.m. Aug. 25
Jones: “I see you went for a ride … you have to at least let me know. … You know how the uniformed guys start stuff…”
Kilpatrick: “Everything is cool. F— the uniform guys. I’ll be home in a half hour.”

Long before the infamous red Navigator, there was another Navigator, and Detroit first lady Carlita Kilpatrick made sure she got one she liked.
Text messages released today reveal that in late 2002, long before then Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick finally admitted his administration had lied about leasing a 2005 Lincoln Navigator for his wife with city funds, he had already done it once before.
Messages in August and September 2002 show the back and forth between the mayor, his wife and her friend and city-paid assistant, Andrea Carroll.
August 26, 2002:
Carroll: “Hey, what is the plan for the Navigator?”
Kwame Kilpatrick: “I talked to Chris (Beatty), we are going to lease it.”
Carroll: “O.K., cool do I need to do anything else? … ”
Kwame Kilpatrick: “Talk to Chris, let’s move forward.”
Sept. 18, 2002:
Carlita Kilpatrick to Carroll: “Can I get my truck before the 2004s are out? … KMK (Kwame Kilpatrick) said this Friday. How true is that?”
If Carroll replied, it was not included in the text message transcripts released Thursday.

Some of the most intriguing text messages released today include the first known comment by Carlita Kilpatrick about the rumored but never-proven Manoogian Mansion stripper party. According to the rumor, stripper Tamara Greene, who went by the name Strawberry, was assaulted by Carlita Kilpatrick after the mayor’s wife walked in on the party and saw Greene with her husband.
The comments surfacing today came in texts the mayor’s wife sent to Andrea Carroll, her city-paid assistant and close friend.
Carlita Kilpatrick wrote to Carroll in May 2003 that Harold Nelthrope, one of the Detroit police officers assigned to the first family’s Executive Protection Unit, had been talking to police internal affairs.
“Nelthrop went to IA and told them that the party did happen and that I did beat up some girl,” Carlita Kilpatrick wrote on May 6, 2003. “What in the world is going on?”
Carroll replied: “DID HE? NO WAY! HE COULD NOT HAVE. … ”
The messages contain no more discussion of the episode.
Nelthrope, who has described himself as being a friend to the first lady when he was assigned to the mayor’s security team, had reported to internal affairs rumors he had heard about the party. His report prompted then deputy chief Gary Brown to launch an investigation into the mayor and his inner circle, an investigation that ended when Kilpatrick fired Brown on May 9, three days after Carlita Kilpatrick’s missive to her friend.
Brown and Nelthrope later won civil suits against Kilpatrick, convincing a jury that the mayor ruined their police careers over their involvement in the Manoogian party investigation. The party has never been proven.
That same week in May, Carlita Kilpatrick wrote to Carroll she was upset that another EPU officer had also gone to internal affairs. Her suggestion on what should happen to that officer is similar to her husband’s firing of Brown later that week.
“Renee is going to be fired off of EPU!” the first lady wrote. “Found out she been talking to IA about things going on over here. Ain’t that a Bitch! ”
Carroll: “YES! dang, you’re scaring me! … ”
Carlita Kilpatrick: “I don’t know any particulars. But if she has said anything, she’s GOTTA GO! It’s the worst when you like someone and they don’t do right. This is an issue I’m going to totally defer to God. I don’t want to worry about it anymo…”

On June 24, 2003, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced the much-anticipated findings of his five-week investigation into alleged wrongdoing by members of Kilpatrick’s inner circle, as well as the rumored but never-proven Manoogian Mansion party involving a stripper who was killed the following year. According to the rumor, Kilpatrick’s wife, Carlita, walked in on the wild party, witnessed the stripper with her husband, and assaulted the woman.
In a message apparently sent to her husband, Lou, Christine Beatty wrote: “The AG is coming back today with their findings of their investigation.”
A couple hours later, Cox dismissed the rumored party as “urban legend,” found that some of Kilpatrick’s friends on his police bodyguard team had received excessive overtime, and criticized Beatty’s recommendation that Deputy Chief Gary Brown be fired from the Detroit Police Department.
In an exuberant text to the leaders of the mayor’s security team, Loronzo (Greg) Jones and Mike Martin, Beatty wrote: “HEY GREG AND MIKE, CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH! YOUR NAMES WERE CLEARED AND THE TRUTH PREVAILED! LOVE YOU BOTH! I’m THE SOUNDREL NOW! LOL.”
Cox had said in a news conference announcing his findings: “Undoubtedly, Ms. Beatty’s actions and recommendation were arguably premature and heavy-handed, yet there is nothing to suggest that she obstructed a criminal investigation,” Cox said of Beatty’s recommendation that Brown be fired. “Her actions may support a civil suit.”
Ultimately, Brown and another former officer filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the city and Kilpatrick. The Free Press revealed in January that Beatty and Kilpatrick lied while under oath in that case, which later led to the criminal charges that Beatty is fighting in court.

Ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s scandals have caused plenty of collateral damage for his appointees, some of whom have had their independence questioned after Kilpatrick enlisted them to help explain away his missteps.
Among the most criticized for her loyalty to Kilpatrick was former Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings. On March 15, 2004, she showed that she was a good soldier in a text message she sent to Beatty.
Bully-Cummings wrote: “Chris, is it possible to get 25 Mayor’s lapel pins, I am going to mandate the DCs and Cmdrs wear them at all times.”
DCs and Cmdrs refer to deputy chiefs and commanders, who are political appointees.

In text messages unsealed today, Beatty and Kilpatrick sometimes remind each other to erase their romantic notes to each other.
Neither apparently knew that SkyTel, the communications company that leased the pagers to the City of Detroit, archives text messages for government bodies in case they are ever needed in personnel issues and legal matters. So erasing the messages didn’t help the pair.
And even with their warnings to one another about their dangerous communications, Beatty wrote that the notes from Kilpatrick were hard to discard.
Take this excerpt from Aug. 9, 2002:
Kilpatrick: “Love you, too. All of you. Mostly your spirit and soul. Its beautiful! The outside aint so bad either!. … Erase and throw away msgs, Ms. Get Caught!”
Beatty: “LOL! WHATEVER. THAT’S WHAT I’M DOING AS WE SPEAK! LOL. HOWEVER I LIKE TO SOMETIMES REREAD MY MESSAGES FROM YOU. THEY MAKE ME SMILE AND I CAN FEEL YOU WHEN I DO. JUST AN FYI. LOL.”

Some texts released today by prosecutors reveal how politically focused the Kilpatrick administration could be.
In December 2003, when Wayne County Prosecutor Mike Duggan — a Kilpatrick ally — said he would resign to lead the Detroit Medical Center, the head of the city law department, Ruth Carter, sprung into action. Her first message to Kilpatrick refers to choosing Duggan’s replacement to complete Duggan’s term. That job fell to Wayne County judges. (The judges ultimately named one of their own, Kym Worthy, who this past March would charge Kilpatrick and Beatty with a combined 15 felony counts relating to the text message scandal).
Dec. 6, 2003
CARTER: I just spoke to Mike, I’m going to start calling the judges…
Dec. 8, 2003
CARTER: It looks as tho Virgil is the most likely contender, Mike Cox will help him. Butch suggested Saul Green but Duggan feels that would take to long. Unless you are opposed let’s back Virgil he could pull it out he’s been close before.
Virgil is an apparent reference to Virgil Smith, a former state lawmaker who ran for prosecutor in 2000, lost in the Democratic primary to Duggan, and took a job with Duggan. Butch is an apparent reference to Melvin (Butch) Hollowell, a lawyer and Democratic activist who advised Kilpatrick.

Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s profligate use of his city-issued credit card and mayoral petty cash fund has drawn criticism over the years. But texts from June 2, 2003, show an example of fiscal restraint by Beatty, his top aide – at least when it came to credit card usage by Kilpatrick’s underlings.
MISTY EVANS: Jermaine charged the Mayor’s CC for $243.38 for his wife to go with him to Mackinac. I am asking him for it back today…
BEATTY: HE CAN’T EVER DO THAT! HOW IS IT THAT THE MAYOR’S CC WAS ON HIS ROOM?

Some text messages released by prosecutors today raise questions about whether former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick used money from the Kilpatrick Civic Fund to pay for an illicit 2002 rendezvous in Colorado with Christine Beatty, his then-chief of staff. The messages also show that Kilpatrick dismissed Beatty’s suggestion that he erase his texts.
The Free Press reported in January that Kilpatrick charged a plane ticket and rental car on his city-issued credit card for the getaway with Beatty in Vail. His official appointment calendar described the time off as “Gone Fishing!!!”
Text messages released today show Kilpatrick and Beatty planning the trip on Nov. 4, 2002
BEATTY: I WILL BE TRYING TO LOOK REALLY CUTE FOR YOU TOMORROW. HOPE I SUCCEED. I ALSO GOT A CUTE LITTLE BIKINI WAX THIS WEEKEND. LOL
KILPATRICK: NOW I OFFICIALLY CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU. I MUST SAY THAT YOU LOOK INCREDIBLE AT WORK ANYWAY. YOU are BEAUTIFUL, INSIDE & OUT. I’m GOING TO BE ALL OVER THE BIKINI WAX SECTION OF YOUR BODY. LOL
BEATTY: THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT B. ERASE YOUR MESSAGES! SENT AND RECEIVED! LOL!
KILPATRICK: WORRY ABOUT YOUR GETTING CAUGHT ASS. STOP TRYING TO MICROMANAGE MY 2WAY! LOL
Five days later, apparently writing from the airport in Denver, Beatty wrote to Kilpatrick: “They are now saying $407 a piece.”
Kilpatrick replied: “GET A CIVIC CK OUT OF MY BAG. I’LL BE THERE IN 15 MINS…”
Kilpatrick established the civic fund — which has taken in hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions since Kilpatrick was elected mayor — for the stated purpose of voter education and improving neighborhoods in Detroit. He has refused to disclose who contributes to the fund or how the money was spent. IRS rules don’t require such detailed financial disclosure.

The texts messages released today between Kilpatrick and Beatty often revolve around Beatty’s desire to marry Kilpatrick. He often says that’s what he wants, too — when the time is right. The messages are among many that contradict the pair’s testimony at a police whistle-blower trial last year in which they denied a sexual or romantic relationship, and are at the core of their perjury prosecutions.
Here is one text example from Dec. 29, 2003:
BEATTY: Will you marry me?
KILPATRICK: YES. WHEN?
BEATTY: I don’t know when, all I know is I want to be your wife! I want you to be my husband. So whenever our lives permit, just say you’ll marry me.
KILPATRICK: YES. YES. YES. I REALLY KNEW I WOULD BE WITH You SINCE 12TH GRADE. JUST A MATTER OF TIME.
BEATTY: I will wait on it! …

Some text messages released by prosecutors today show Kilpatrick frantic to save face in late 2003 after news reports revealed he had signed an agreement in August 2002 that ended a ban on the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians opening a new casino within 150 miles of Detroit.
That decision could have allowed the tribe to open a new casino in Romulus — and jeopardized the financial fortunes of Detroit’s three casinos.
On. Dec. 15, 2003, Kilpatrick wrote: “Ruth, Derick, Howard, Get Casino stmt and stance out there! WE LOOKED LIKE WE F***** UP ROYALLY! Sit down with Media, 2, 4, 7, Frankie, Serch, etc. Stop Ignorance Now!”
Frankie is an apparent reference to WMXD-FM (92.3) radio host Frankie Darcell, who has regularly interviewed Kilpatrick on her “Talk of the Town” radio show. She is also a frequent guest on “Flash Point,” the Sunday public affairs show on WDIV-TV Local 4, where she has defended Kilpatrick. Serch is an apparent reference to MC Serch, a former member of the rap group 3rd Bass, who hosted a popular radio show on WJLB-FM (97.9).

The prosecutor’s authentication motion contains some messages that reveal tension between Kilpatrick and Beatty on March 18, 2004, over Kilpatrick’s relationship with his wife, whose name is Carlita Ebony Kilpatrick. The Kilpatricks have three sons together; each of their names begin with J.
BEATTY: Can I ask you a question?
KILPATRICK: Yes.
BEATTY: What do you get from CEK that you don’t get from me?
KILPATRICK: The tremendous bond of Parenthood. J, J & J’s Mama. The Birth Experiences and the Dreams for our Children.
BEATTY: Is that it?
KILPATRICK: That’s it. I was thinking real hard. Its ALL the Family thing. Structure and Comfort.

On July 1, 2003, then-mayoral press secretary Jamaine Dickens sent Kilpatrick a text discussing the mayor’s role in an upcoming Eminem concert.
Dickens wrote: “Paul Rosenberg said you agreed to do some sort of skit for the concert. Are you familiar?”
Rosenberg is Eminem’s manager.
The mayor replied: “Yes, a video before Em comes on about him doing a show in Detroit.”
Prosecutors likely included this text in their legal filing to bolster their claim that the various texts are authentic, and were actually sent by Beatty, Kilpatrick and others using city-issued pagers.
With this in mind, prosecutors also included a page from the mayor’s appointment calendar dated July 10, 2003, that reads: “Eminem introduction Taping (Mayor’s Conference Room). Contact: Jamaine D.”

On Feb. 4, 2003, Kilpatrick sent a text message to a woman whose name was blacked out. He wrote: “…I was about to jump your bones in Ford Field! LOL” According to prosecutors, she was not the mayor’s wife, Carlita, nor his then-lover, Christine Beatty.
Mediaoutrage- Never say crazy stuff through text messages, that can later be confiscated and used as evidence to lock your ass up.
