Beyonce, who is at this moment, one of the biggest music stars on the globe is trying to add yet more luster to her already radiant career. Yesterday she said that she would really like to play Wonder Woman in a movie. Thanks to loyal reader Rocksee for the tip that she she so brilliantly left in the comments section! Appreciate it! Check out Bey’s words:

Via BBC News:

The singer has met DC Comics and film studio Warner Bros to express her interest in future superhero roles on the big screen.

“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?” she told the Los Angeles Times.

“And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”

Wonder Woman, played by Lynda Carter on TV in the 1970s, has never been made into a feature film.

Beyonce was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Dreamgirls two years ago, and has also had film parts in Austin Powers in Goldmember and The Pink Panther.

She will soon be seen playing singer Etta James on the big screen in Cadillac Records, and has a major role in the thriller Obsessed.

“After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself: ‘OK, I need to be a superhero,’” Beyonce said.

“Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”

Mediaoutrage- Say what you will about Beyonce, but never label her a dummy. She knows that by portraying one of the most famous comic book characters in history that it would only continue to solidify her as on of the biggest stars on the planet. This would also be a very huge step in furthering her career in movies. Another reason why it’s a smart move is that Action films gross way more money than others and tend to demand sequels. This reminds us of what Will Smith said about his planned success.

Keep going Bey, she is no dummy!! I wish her luck on the Wonder Woman project, that would be a major accomplishment if they allowed an African-American woman to be Wonder Woman.
I saw yesterday that another actress had sent out false info that she had already been dubbed Wonder Woman. Good Luck Bey!

  • beach chick

    Go Bey, make that paper!

  • Rocksee

Remember when Kim Kardashian appeared in that Wonder Woman costume?

That was no coincidence…many are jock-ing for the post.

    Including yours truly…

Don’t say I didn’t try to tell you!

  • Cyndy

Yea i remember the halloween outfit Kim rocked. She looked great in it! If i was a casting director, I would pick Beyonce.

  • Hovy’s home

I think Beyonce would make a great Wonder Woman. Rocksee are you an actress? I like Kim K but would rather Bee.

  • Rocksee

    @Hovy’s Home –

    Yes I am.

    Regarding Beyonce –

Couldn’t agree with you more…she deserves top consideration for the gig…her time is nigh, especially with her visibility ratings…plus I think she earned the right for consideration. Beyonce works hard!!

    However…

    Question for all…

Do you think she has the acting skills to pull of an entire film, where she will be on screen 98% of the time?

    Not hatin’…just askin…

    One additional thought…

Is it really a major accomplishment for a black woman to be cast in this role? I think Hollywood is looking far less at the color line these days and looking more at the dollar line. With Beyonce in this film, the box office scores!! Isn’t that what Hollywood has become and is all about?

Let’s think about some of the visible options, that are also known competitors:

Kim Kardashian…Jada Pinkett…Megan Fox…Beyonce…Pamela Sue Anderson (think black wig)…any og the Girls Next Door (think black wigs again)…Claudia Jordan…the list goes on…

White, Black, Purple Green…who got the most compatible look, along with the msot acting ability, along with box office draw?

    Anyone open for discussion?

Once we get rolling, I’ll share with you some insiders track…

  • Rocksee

    @ Cyndy –

Trust me when I tell you…Kim looks great in ANYTHING! She is the prettiest natural beauty going in Hollywood right now. She could have on a MooMoo…she will always be physically GORGEOUS!!

However, you didn’t see that costume in person, nor did you see the back of that thing…ill-fitted for obvious reasons.

    Anywho…not hatin’, just educatin’.

I figure if I can shed an up close and personal light on the subject I may as well.

Take a deep breath M&U…I come in peace…please don’t attack.

  • Rocksee

    @MO –

    Thanks for the shout!!

  • Paul

MO i must say that I have grown to really love this site. When I first started coming here I was a little upset that you didn’t report on white celebs more often but then W2m schooled me to say lol. But what I really love about this site is the diversity that you throw in front of my eyes. You are posting about 9/11 conspiracy theories which I can’t find on any other celeb gossip site. You placed 3 videos up on Farrakhan, a man that most white people despise and fear. I played all of the videos and the man speaks NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.You constantly ask the opinions of your readers. What I really love being that I rarely leave comments, is reading the hilarious and insightful words of the readers of MO. Rocksee, I rarely say this but you are one brilliant woman I enjoy reading what you W2m, DT (who at first I didn’t care for), and a few others have to say. My co-workers have become MO readers and we often talk about some of the stuff you guys put up here and it becomes office debates lol.

Rocksee you are right. Being that I am a geeky white man, I believe Hollywood has become more about the money than the color line also. With that said I think Beyonce would be the best choice. Meagan Fox is gorgeous so you couldn’t go wrong with her either. Good thoughts.

  • missdcakamse

I think Bey would look awesome in a wonder woman costume…although comic book flicks gross millions at the box office; does anyone remember Catwoman (starring Halle) that did not do good at the box office and Electra (with Jennifer Garnett)?

Although both of these movies had good actresses with beautiful screen faces neither one of the movies pulled in the numbers that Spider Man, Batman, or other action figures (starring men!) So if Hollywood decides to do a Wonder Woman movie, they will need a strong lead actress..and in my opinion Bey is not quite there yet.

  • Rocksee

    @ Paul –

No worries…I’m a geeky, book nerd too! Thanks for your support on the comment. I stand by my belief on this one.

I’d also like to see more diverse topics, with diverse approaches, which translates into diverse news, which means crossing the color line on our site. I completely understand serving the demographic and can appreciate that, but “Oh the Places You’ll Go…” (sic Dr. Suess)…told you I was a geek…if we reached out a bit more. So many people lead fascinating lives…not just all folk of color.

OBTW…Miss Keys has been considered for this role too.

  • Miss E

@ Rocksee – Who do you think is qualified to play the Wonder Woman role?

  • Miss E

Here are my top picks for this role (no particular order):

    1) Jennifer Garnett
    2) Jada Pinkett-Smith
    3) Sanaa Lathan
    4) Kate Beckinsale
    5) Alicia Keys
    6) Kerri Washington
    7) Pamela Anderson Lee
    8) Brooke Shields
    9) Paula White
    10) Jill Marie Jones
    11) Tracee Ellis Ross

  • Rocksee

    @ Miss E –

As far as being qualified…Hmmm…let me see…I guess RuPaul would be a bit much…Hmmm…

I’d REALLY like to see B get it…she deserves it and this is the only way she will get the MUCH NEEDED practice on screen. Yet this could come with a price…boredom being one of them…

(Don’t be mad at me M&U.)

However, I think Megan Fox (google her) would bring some curiosity to the production…she’s really hot looking…ehhh…talented? Not quite sure, but the mystic here is that they could legitimately bring back Lynda Carter as her mother or something like that. If you don’t know already, Lynda Carter is still the BOMB! I think she deserves a shout out too!! All little girls wanted to be Wonder Woman because of her clean, respected image.

  • http://h ucanb2

@ Rocksee you are right!!! I love Lynda Carter, and her image was always squeaky-clean. It is going to be interesting to see who get’s the coveted role!! Keep going Rocksee, I’m at my slow point at work. LOL
