@Yea I Said It

Glad you like it. "Mad World" is his most popular song which is a pretty cool song. I really like all his songs, can listen to the whole album and not skip any songs. Rare these days. Really chill music.

He's pretty similar to Tracy. They both have a folkish sound to them on some songs and they both mix it up on other tracks.

@ Jan I was kinda diggin it...

They never tell you truth is subjective
They only tell you not to lie
They never tell you there's strength in vulnerability
They only tell you not to cry
But I've been living underground
Sleeping on the way
And finding something else to say
Is like walking on the freeway
They never tell you you don't need to be ashamed
They only tell you to deny
So is it true that only good girls go to heaven?
They only sell you what you buy
And I've been living underground
Sleeping on the way
And finding something else to say
Is like walking on the freeway
I've been living underground
Trying not to burn
And finding something else to learn
At Hollywood and western

Is he on the same path of Tracy Chapman? I love her music

Jan that was funny about there being "ugly" talented females out here lol. I think both sides are to blame. We as consumers have to demand more by being selective in what we allow the music industry "record execs" by spending our power "money" on bull ish. I came from the era of Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, Public Enemy, Rakim, Ice Cube and other spitters who were really talking about society while promoting having a good time. Somewhere "gangsta" rap infiltrated and took over.

Here's some "real" music by a "real" artist who I really like these days. Not very popular and I don't know if you guys will "feel" it but his songs are quite deep, to me anyways. Name is Gary Jules.

Just wanted to share :-)

Feelin you Miss E.
It's not specifically the directors, rappers or the women, it's a cultural thing. And it's not just African American or urban culture, it's the dominant Western civ. culture. It's always been human nature but today it has to do with market morality. Everything's for sale. Wealth worship, baby makin and disparity got shit crucial. Music artists need to take our music where the people need it. "I know a place"

I'm not going to write a book on this subject, but I just think it's about choices. There is always going to be sexual explicit music videos out there, but that doesn't mean you have to watch them. It's called a remote, or that X in the right hand corner of your web browser. Kids are being influenced by these things because the parents are ALLOWING IT!!! Parents today are leting MTV,BET, and VH1 raise their children.

When these women go out for these video auditions, they aren't trying to be good role models, and people don't understand that. They are just trying to get their faces out there and maybe become the next Melyssa Ford,or Eva Mendes. Video directors are usually just putting a visual with the lyrics of the songs, and this whole cycle begins with the rappers. Don't get mad at these women because they are just trying to make a quick buck, get mad at the rappers who make these degrading songs. I mean, how many sex songs can Plies come out with???

First up, the sad thing about pop culture is that "sexy" equates talented in the entertainment industry. How many ugly entertainers (especially on the female side of things) do you see out there?

Now, there is NOOOOOOOOOO WAY IN HELL that there aren't talented "ugly" females around doing their thing. They just don't get the backing, nor the approval of our sheep like society. That's sad. When you have total airheads like Fergie strutting around like sluts influencing our kids with GARBAGE.....that just makes me shake my head.

So with that said. It's not the producers, aritsts, labels, or the females fault for being a video hoe because that is what sells. It's society that is to blame. It's the fact that we listen to this garbage and support this nonsense.

I am in the process of writing a book on my views and my utter disgust with civilization. Hehehe I'll send MO a copy.

Regardless of who's to blame the problem is for the most part Black women are portrayed as booty shakin, gum poppin, gold diggin, hood boogas. Not that white artists don't have chicks in their videos but white women, or any other race for that matter, are not constantly seen as one dimensional play things. I could care less about the females that choose to toot their asses on camera b/c they're already in the Black Girl Lost category, we need to be concerned for these young girls who see these videos & look at it as their reflection of beauty.
