Damn Mike
Posted by Media Outrage on December 7th, 2008
It was brought to our attention that several years ago Charles Barkely said that while he and Michael Jordan were still playing in the league, that one day they were out and about and a homeless man asked Barkely for some money, and Charles gave the man some money. Jordan in turn chided Barkley saying “you shouldn’t have given him any money because the same way he could beg for money he can also say hi may I take your order at Wendys.”
All we can say is that’s some cold ish right there Mike. Thanks for the tip Jamal.

Yea Charles Barkley wrote about this incident in his book “I may be wrong, but I doubt it”. Yes he wrote a book, and yes it was funny as hell. The title alone is something Charles Barkley can only pull off.

I like and respect Charles Barkley for many reasons but one of the biggest reasons is because Barkley always tells the truth no matter who it pisses off. I believe Barkley, and yes Jordan is a selfish dude…….. I think “Money Mike” Jordan’s stylist!

Mike being BOURGEIOUS, that’s funny when he doesn’t even know when to use certain words. I thought bourgeious people would know a little about grammar. I have seen him do interviews and have wondered what the hell he was talking about, he will take a big word and put it in a place or a sentence and if you not paying attention you will think he is smart, but if you listen to what he said you will realize that what he said made no got dayuum sense at all.

Mike that’s some fucked up thinking not to want to part withyour loot for the less fortunate. you bald headed fuck we made your black ass rich by copping your unafordable JORDANS THAT EVERY NIGGA IN THE HOOD WAS GETTING POPPED AND SHOT TO DEATH FOR. YOU REMEMBER? WHEN YOU COULD DRIVE THROUGH ANY HOOD AND FIND SOME BLOOD STAINS AND LOOK RIGHT ABOVE THE CAUTION TAPE AND SEE LITTLE JIMMYS JORDANS HANGING FROM THE PHONE LINE? BASTARD.

Yea, I think that was messed up. Mike, maybe you have never been homeless or had a family member who is, but those ppl deserve charity too. Amazing how ppl will pick up their pace when they see a homeless person hand out, but will empty their pockets at Strokers. SMH. My child watches everything I do and I may not have millions, but she have never seen me walk past a homeless person without givin SOMETHING. Never. I remember one day I just got off work from the club and I was drivin to get some breakfast. I had made a few tips that night and was in a great mood. I stopped at a red light and noticed a homeless man on the sidewalk. He was sittin alone, 3 am, downtown. I put my car in park, and walked right up to him. I asked, do you have any money? He says, no baby, I can’t give you any, I don’t have anything. I laughed and said no, I wanna give YOU some, so you can eat tonight. I pulled out a wad of ones and handed them to him. He was sooooo grateful and thanked me over and over. I don’t think givin has ever made me feel so satisfied as it did that night. You will never know how much you have given or how many lives you have touched as sometimes we never see the ppl again after we help them. But the world will know how much you did for others when you are dead and gone, but the amt of ppl that show up for your funeral. I want my kids to be proud of me, even when im gone.

@ Hovy’s Home: I always said the samething. I dont think he does as much as he can for kids. I was talking to someone from Chicago and they swore me down that Mike does for the kids in the city. So I asked him, what does he do? And dude said something about he goes to a specific gym where he plays pick up or something, he plays ball and he gives the shoes that he wore to a kid. I said damn the people in the Chi are easy to pleasse. Shit AI use to have a trunk full of his shoes, all sizes, brand new in the box and if your size was in there you could have them, everytime yall played. I saw AI give all his shoes out at Tidewater park, give a highschool kid the jumpers he had on his feet and played about 15 pick up games in some Timbs. Mike is a great ball player but he aint the best human being.

Yes I met Michael Jordan more than a few times and had some pretty interesting conversations with him. His ex-wife and my wife are still friends. I think he’s a very down to earth man. Not sure what he does for the community but he treated me with respect. I believe that Charles speaks the truth though.Who am i to judge. Interesting post.

Smurfette, that mighty right of you. I give to the needy the same way. I know we have blogged on this subject before so I will just say that, there are more good people in the world than we know, they just wont let good people in run the world………And I think I know why.

That’s not respectable Mike. On one hand i can understand Jordan trying to make people accountable for their bad decisions and choices that led them to where they are. But on the other a lot of the people on the streets really need help in order to transition back into society. Plus, Mike you’re like worth $300million. smh.

@ 2020, I think I have this soft spot for the less fortunate because my own grandmother was one of these ppl for 20 years. I know what these ppl go though. Who are we to judge them? U know?

Smurfette, I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way,
But the brand name Jordan does not go to his count towards his liquid assets but he bought the right to his name from Nike, so he was close to a billion right before the divorce.

I don’t doubt he got bread. But giving should be done whether a person works at Wendys or is a superstar. Maybe he was not taught to give as a child. They say, charity begins at home.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Mr. Jordan would make such a comment. He hasn’t identified with poor or Black folks for years. When have you ever heard him support any Black causes or give money publicly to any? He spends all his days playing golf and dating white women. Thank God his wife has the good sense to employ a good lawyer and take his black ass to the cleaners. At least the millions she got won’t go to some white skank hoe which would have been the case had she not won!
