Beyonce speaks about singing for the President
Posted by Media Outrage on January 22, 2009
Beyonce spoke about the emotion she felt while singing for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s first dance at the Neighborhood Ball.
Via MTV:
“I can’t even describe to you how I felt,” she told “Good Morning America” correspondent Robin Roberts after her performance. “I’m actually right now fighting back tears because it’s just so emotional. I’m just so proud of my country. There are just certain people in the world that God touches, and this man was born for this. And he was born to lead us, and I just feel so inspired and so proud.”
She also explained what she was thinking about as she sang the Etta James classic for the first couple. “I was thinking [about] all of the sacrifices Obama and his wife and his children have made, and at last he’s here,” she said, her voice wavering. “I’m sorry, I’m so embarrassed. I’m just so lucky to be a part of this history. It’s probably the most important day of my life, and I’m so grateful.”
Beyoncé told Roberts that Obama’s victory has changed her. “He makes me want to be smarter; he makes me want to bee more involved,” she said. “Honestly, of course, I’ve voted before, but I’ve never really watched the ceremonies. This is my first time being a part of it, and I’m here, and I’m singing! … I’m so overwhelmed, you know. I have chills!”
Mediaoutrage- Awe Beyonce is overwhelmed with her robotic answers Lol! Nah but she did the damn thing and we’re sure she is humbled to have been a part of such a historical moment in U.S. and World history.

That is good for her, I’m glad that President Obama can motivate even Bey to increase her knowledge and become involved in U.S.’s society.
Maybe now she’ll start up a summer camp for girls who want to be the next Destiny’s Child.

“here are just certain people in the world that God touches, and this man was born for this”,eyonce is dead on with that statement. President Obama was meant to lead.
He has that certain something that maybe you can’t explain in words but you know it when you see it.
You could see it on Beyonce’s face when she finished singing that she was touched to her very soul.

I think everybody around the world felt what she felt..I certainly did, and those around me in the national mall did also. I cried, just like that, it never happened to me..I can’t explain it, But I’m sure all M.O. readers know what I mean, 01/20/2009 was a beautiful day, I’m so pround of the American people.
Dr. King dream wasn’t to see a black a president one day ( the media are so stupid), his dream was to see blacks, whites, mexicans, jews, whatever all together..happy, and singing..I sure saw that Monday in Washington, and I saw that also in other part of the world….
