Angela Bassett spoke at the 2009 TV Land Awards Show on Sunday. Angela is without question one of the best actresses in Hollywood. I am not a Halle Berry stan but I have to say its Halle. I like Angela Bassett because she nails her parts but Halle has come through on a more diverse roles than Angela. She palyed a hell of a crackhead which is a Role that Angela has not portrayed. But I have a tremendous amount of rspect for people who convincingly play retards. One of the best retard roles I have ever saw was pulled of by Billy Bob Thorton in Sling Blade. the other person to nail a retard role is n on other than Halle. I know most of yall are trying to remember HBs retard role, and cant figure it out. let me give yall a little hint. It was the movie role that she won her Oscar for. For those that are still confused I will give you the answer. The producers of Monsters Ball didnt tell us but there is no way that her character was not mentaly challenged, that character was no doubt, a retard. If you dont believe me watch the movie and study her part, the bith was retarded.

LOL@2020 I agree Halle’s character had to be retarded in Monster’s Ball. I hate that movie with a passion. I’m still mad that of all the roles Halle could have gotten an oscar, for they give it to her for THAT. Denzel too. I love them both as actors, but the Academy was just wrong.
Anyhoo, I think Angela is the better actress. I just heart her.

I like both, but Angela just make you feel her in different characters she plays! She looks nice in her dress, and Vivica dress looks like her dress is 2 big 4 her!

How do I say this nicely?….I think the roles that both of them have been choosing lately have sucked ass. I mean, Angela was definitely cast too young in that Tyler Perry movie with Rick Fox where she was supposed to be 20 somthing… GTFOOH! Her “mature” ass was way too old for that part and then Halle in that Lost in the Fire bullcrap, WTF was that all about? A waste of time maybe?
Their earlier work would be the best way to judge and compare. They both have an interesting portfolio, but as far as qualitative, memorable work goes, I’m going with Angela. Her Tina Turner role and her Terry McMillian portrayal alone puts her notches above that Monster’s Ball semi-porn movie Halle’s won an Academy Award for….I think I’ve made my point…

Come on MO, this is an easy call. Angela. Halle does the same skills in all of her movies. I find myself going to sleep halfway through her movies. Granted i did not think much of the role Angela played in Tyler Perrys movie. But I love her in past movies…..
