But true basketball fans that know something about the game will NEVER say something crazy like that. Comparisons are cool. They’ve tried comparing everyone they could to Jordan.

See when Magic and Larry hit the scene in ‘79, it gave the league new life again. You now had Doc Larry and Magic. Doc was on his way out but they knew Bird and Magic would hold the league down, which they did proudly. I’ve never seen such a rivalry in all of competitive sports. The celts and Lakers were an every year thing and you had no idea who was going to walk away with that crown.

80’s was the bomb, because you had great teams that played even greater defense. Remember those 80’s Pistons? The Bad Boys? They didn’t play that “lay-up” bull shyte. YOu stroll through the lane if you want thinking you bout to pull out the GEORGE GERVIN finger roll, and you’re waking up in somebody’s INTENSIVE CARE UNNIT with straight up amnesia.

That was the era when the West were fast break teams and the East were grind it out, slow the tempo, bang bang teams. Detroit Pistons were holding teams to 80 some points. Remember them knicks? With Pat Ewing, Oakley, Anthony Mason, and the boys? They were another extremely physical team that had a NO LAY-UP rule.

So that is why that era will always outshine this one. There’s more talent in the league now, with these young players being able to handle the rock, score and all the athleticism and moves, but no one specializes in defense anymore. No one really enjoys being a role player. Those things are so necessary to the progression and life of the league. Lebron is going to need that nemesis that can challenge him and push him to the limit.

I think Kobe is the greatest player I;ve seen since Jordan but Lebron will surely surpass Kobe. It’s an exciting time in the NBA with Wade, Kobe, and Lebron. And then you have Chris Paul, Derron WIlliams, and the other youngsters but someone just needs to institute better defense.

So no, that stuff would just be plain disrespectful to Jordan’s career, especially since Lebron is accomplishing all of this in “WATERED” DOWN NBA.

Jordan dominated the 90’s back when there were great teams that played excellent defense.
