Is Beyonce Overrated???

Beyonce is a talented singer and entertainer that gets a ton of media attention, and rightfully so. When you have talentless broads like Kim Kardashianwho have yet to hit one note, sell a record, or play leading lady in anyone’s blockbuster film, then Bey definitely deserves the attention hurled her way.
Our real question is this: Despite the talent, gyrations on stage, hit songs, being devoid of any real acting ability whatsoever, is Beyonce OVERRATED? Put aside your personal HATE for a minute and really analyze the question. Or do you feel she gets the props she rightfully deserves for working as hard as she does to stay on top?

Of course she is, but I’m not hating. There’re much better entertainers, but they are not given the chance to shine. In the entertainment industry you have to know the right people or have the looks they are searching for in order to be recognized.
Beyonce do have talent but she is so overexpose it is becoming ignoring.

I think she is overrated. I mean she can hold a note, but so can a lot of singers! (Jill Scott, Jhud, Erykah Badu, India, Keisha Cole just some of my faves) but Bey’s PR team is crazy. And she is pretty, so I think a lot of why she is successful, is b/c of how she looks, she is not some drug addict (Amy Winehouse), doesn’t have kids by some loser (Britney Spears), doesn’t have a sex tape (Paris), and no naked pics on the internet (almost every star we know of). So she is squeaky clean which drives up her sales. She is someone parents don’t mind their kids lookin up to. Bey was packaged and marketed right from jump. Which is why she is where she is.
Now would I go to a Bey show, or buy an album? Hell naw. I like the real singers who can blow, and I don’t jump on every bandwagon just cuz others do. They can have it!

I don’t know about overrated. I think more of overexposed. I think she is overrated on the acting tip but the bitch is the baddest in the games when it comes wearing leotards and singing.

I don’t think she is overrated. In my opinion being overrated has to deal with being pumped up to be something that you’re really not. Beyonce has one of the best voices out right now that we’ve heard since a Whitney Houston. She can dance her ass off and therefore gives an exciting performance. Her looks just accentuate all of her positives. Let’s face it, people LIKE what LOOKS good. She looks good and is very sexy. As Smurfette said she is squeaky clean which is a positive. It’s not her fault that all these other broads are strung out and always engulfed in drama. Her PR Team is supposed to market her crazy. But check this, if she wasn’t talented and an EXCELLENT entertainer, singer, and performer they wouldn’t have anything to push. I think the sista works very hard to maintain her shape, vocals, and energy to keep putting out great music. Her music is good. Straight up there really isn’t another artist that makes the clubs go crazy like her. Single Ladies, Freakum Dress, and too many more to name. Nah she’s not overrated just getting her just do.

I wouldnt say overrated just right now she is overrating this particular album. Her first solo joint was hot and the second one was ok. This has just moved in the “Square root of ass” category.
Yes, her movies do suck ass. Cadillac Records wasnt all that and Obsessed was just a Lifetime movie overall. But she can entertain and sing pretty well. She 10 times better than Ashanti and can sing better than Ciara. Dances alot better than Keri Hilson. So she is probably the best in the whole “Entertainer” department.

Angelina Jolie is over-exposed, so no; not Beyonce.
She is a pure talent; she can dance a little, she can sing a little, she can entertain (a combo of the two) A LOT. But there’s something about her I can’t gel with. It’s like she’s robotic almost.
I’ve been reading posts where her fans (stans) compare her to Michael Jackson and it seriously makes me want to WEEP. How can you compare “Human Nature”, “Black or White”, “Thriller”, etc. to “Freakum Dress”, “Ring the Alarm”, “Deja Vu”, “Get Me Bodied”, etc.
She’s got the talent but her catalog of music is…is…lacking depth and substance, REAL depth and substance. Her fans say well she did “If I Were A Boy” and “Halo” (which I love) and I go, yeah, those are damn good songs, but I just don’t get real sincerity from her when she sings them. There’s something so packaged and robotic about her its bothersome sometimes…
So overrated, yes; over-exposed, no. (again no Angelina, so no dice)…

If I leave the iPod at home and have to listen to the car’s radio and Beyonce comes on, I change the station or turn it off. On the home stereo, don’t nothing but the iPod play.
Her singing is just, I don’t even have a word for it. She doesn’t have good range to me.
Only seen a few of her videos. Once or twice for all of them. They ain’t bout nothing but the same shit far as my eyes have seen.
Went to sleep both times I tried to look at that Carmen bullshit she made.
Haven’t bothered to see that Austin Powers movie or The Pink Panther one.
Didn’t pay to see Fighting Temptations or Obsessed.
Paid to see Dreamgirls ONLY cause Jennifer Hudson & Jamie Foxx were in it.
Ain’t bothering to check out Cadillac Records cause personally I don’t feel she has the depth to play a role that portrayed the lifestyle Etta James lived. I’m scared she botched it.
Her interviews that I’ve tried to digest make me want to become a teacher or a speech therapist or something. No way if I had children would they look up to this Special Needs case!
Her style sucks ass! Wish I would try to dress like her!

Her songs are not to ever be compared to anybody’s, especially Michael Jackson’s. Though Ego is the only one that I do kinda like.
And as far as her squeaky clean rep. It’s been obvious from jump that the girl is boring as hell so of course she’s gonna have a “good girl” image.

The woman is dripping with talent. How many artist can get on stage and dance the way she does and not throw their vocal melody off? Not too many. Keyshia Cole, Ashanti, Mary J, none of them give the performance that Beyonce does. Not even Alicia Keys. Now I do understand that Alicia sings a different style and her thing is the piano. Beyonce’s is dancing and gyrating, which she does a damn good job at doing. How many artist could have fell down the steps while performing and hopped up on note and still killed it!?! Nope she is not overrated. She is the BEST PERFORMER IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW.
Vocally she can only be matched by Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, and maybe 2 more singers. But no One does it like Bey does. She is a money maker and deserves the recognition she gets. I’ve heard her live and her voice is ridiculous! that girl can SANG! Real talent there.

She is talented, true but right now it is just too much. She is on tour, doing commercials, making movies, making videos and dvds, on hundreds of blogs daily…it’s just too much. I never thought I would feel this way because I am a huge Beyonce fan but…I AM SICK OF BEYONCE! I won’t say that she is overrated because she is good at what she does but the chick is overexposed…she’s in our face just a little too much!

The media needs someone to feed off of. Look at the attention certain athletes got in their hay-day such as; Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Kobe Bryant.
If there were other great entertainers out there and if music wasn’t so weak right now there would be a plethora of people for the media to spread that attention around on, but there’s not. Alicia Keys doesn’t drop music or albums enough. J-Hud just dropped her first album so she needs more exposure but other than that Keyshia Cole is just Okay. No one else in the R&B genre is worth mentioning.
I like Jill Scott and Erykah Badu but they don;t release music enough. So BEyonce is holding down music for everyone right now.

Definitely not. I went to her concert and Beyonce sings live, writes her own hits, and dances her ass off. She is a gorgeous woman with an extreme amount of talent that is currently unmatched in the world of Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop. She deserves every praise she receives.

Im not goin 2 hate on sista girl, but reality, she’s a damn good entertainer!!!!!!!!!!!!! that goes overboard (or should i say underboard) with her dressing, if it wasn’t for the sex appeal of Queen B than she wouldn’t be shit. She is a bad azzzzzzzz dancer, her voice is ok, but not over the top like some give her props 4. and as far as acting, she needs to stick to her singing!!!!!

She is definetly overexposed. I am a Bey fan, but her consistent exposure within the media has made me turn my face from her. I think if she took a little break (like Alicia Keys does) for like two or three years then come out with a fresh look (burn the long blonde wigs) and fresh sound that would be good!

I think she is pretty, she can probably dance (I thought her dance in Single ladies was horrible, but everyone seems to like it), and she has a great voice that I love. IMHO, what she lacks is good songs. I don’t like ANY of her songs. I also believe very few do justice to her voice. Plus – what Kanyade said about substance (MJ? PLEASE!).
Give her some good songs to sing and teach her to mean them, then maybe…
For now – thanks, but no thanks, I’d rather pop in my MJ for the 1000th time.

As for her being squeaky clean… Hmm… Did you see some of those dance moves on stage? I mean, MJ grabbed his crotch, but remember how he said on Oprah he felt the music compelled him to? Well, I believe him. With Beyonce, to put it in MJ’s terms, it feels like she’s thinking “ok, in 3 seconds I grab my crotch”.
Personally, if I had a say, I wouldn’t want my daughter to look up to her.

Extremely overrated. Yes, she can sing, but I personally dont feel it- all technical training with no real soul. She certainly uses the “sex sells” stripper moves well. The music and lyrics are mediocre and again, soul-less. I am sure she is pretty under all the horse hair (someone please remind her stylist to do a better job when coloring and relaxing her roots) and over-the-top gaudy wardrobe which put most drag queens to shame. No hate here, just my opinion.
