This is black history, change your thinking, get values, people you are not poor, it is your thinking, stop the worship of the false idols, look how it leaves the community when you don't care about nothing but paper, and buying shit you do not need, going to jail trying to get bull shit. Be thankful for every damn day yo ass is alive, for every day that you are not beat or raped, for what food you get, because you still doing better than so many people in the world, learn and help others that are open to the knowledge and know your fucking history and know what capitalism is, capitalism can change if we change our thinking, capitalism don't give a fuck, if you think a certain way, capitalist will capitalize, but if you change your thinking capitalist will be force to change the way they do business

My perspective on the black family and bringing up children. Before desegregration, 2 little black girls were bussed to a white school and endured the most horrible abuse. Grown ass white folks lined up to meet them as they entered the school. So those little girls had to walk through a gauntlet, with grown as white folks spittin on them and calling niggers and everything else. Yet these little black girls did well and the white american government said how is that possible. So a psychologist was sent to the little black girls home to study the reasons these little black girls were still doing well even though they were treated like shit every day. Well there was black man and a black woman, a loving family these little girls had at home. A black man and a black woman, married, raising a family. Well now that shit had to end and the next thing you know dope start flowing all up in the black hood and niggas was gettin locked up left and right leaving the black woman to fend for herself. Yes, people, black men and women use to get married, and they had extended families, we all know what happened to nice families that went to church, church got bombed, and then came the media, and education was out of the question, because the last thing you want is a black man and black woman in love, raising a family and going to church, educated because the next thing you know is you will have a Michelle Obama and Barack Obama

Americans in poverty still have more than most of the people in the world, the thinking is what needs to change. You'd be surprised how little you could live on, but if you are caught up as most of us are, then you will think you are poor, when in reality you are not. People feel sorry for you when they enjoy middle class life and that is part of the problem not the solution, instead of focusing on your strenths that you have your health, if you are able to stand to see to think. Our society is capitalistic and capitalism has no morality, it is all about the money, so people do not value the life they have when people are always telling them how poor they are, so they are willing to throw their precious life away to live in a disgusting jail and be raped, and for what, thinking they are helping the family. It is the thinking process that needs to be addressed. To be part of the solution, share knowledge, resources referrals. This gentlemen posting a blog is the first step, building awareness, creating dialogue and continue to do so, use this technology to share with people that have made the journey to connect from despair, give them hyperlinks, referrals, start the knowledge sharing process and let it spread like a wild fire, continue to be a active part of change, if you find a person who has been able to dialogue, post a link. I got one to start things off: storyofstuff.com, come into the thinking process and not see yourself poor because if you are in america, you are not poor, it is your thinking that is poor and you are a victim of capitalism, because in capitalism we capitalize on anything, don't matter,

@Go back to Africa, before you just blatently ignore the inventions and advances givin to the "WORLD" by Africans and of African descent do your research. Blacks were the first to have an adavanced civilization. So much African history was erased not only by whites but Arabs, and Asians combined. The first 25 dynasties in Eygpt were??? Yeah you guessed it black. Blacks were the first to have a documented written language, but the history of African advancement has been misconstrued so much and the truth is scarcley known or expressed. The Africans were the first to develop Advanced architecture, no matter how much the world has tried to erase the history of the accoplisments that blacks have achieved they always leave trails back to the truth. Did you ever think about why the nose on one of the most advanced creations in ancient Egypt the Sphinx was defaced and the nose is no longer present? It was just a way to hide the truth, if you do your research the Spinx head was designed after a Pharoah and the biggest evidence to discredit the fact that he was infact African was a highly acknowledged black trait, his wide nose. So what would be the most obvious answer to hide the truth?? But Africa was once one of the most powerful continents in the world, but the intrusion of other Race's, beliefs, languages, and religions created a curltural divide. The same way the mass media is continually doing that with black americans today, and what better way to destroy a culture than with its own self hate, which a lot of that is fed to us with a lot of the pure ignorance in music today. But read more about history before you speak on it. Some books MO readers, hell every person of African descent should read is "Destruction of Black Civilization : Great Issues of a Race from 4500 B.C to 2000 A.D. Destruction" by Chancellor Williams and :They Came Before Columbus" by Ivan Van Sertima. In order for us as blacks to truely change the difficulties of present we need to understand the greatness of our past.

Amen and Amen. Yes, we have to do better, but until we raise our lowest common denominator, there will always be those within our race who relish the "ghetto" mentality.

I was born and raised in the 'hood. Times then were significantly different then than what they are now, but nonetheless difficult. We faced struggles, hardships, and uncertainty, but never did we give up hope. That, I believe, is part of what the problem is with some of our youth and their parents today. They have no hope for a brighter future. They don't know what true "success" looks like, therefore, they have no idea of how to obtain it.

It seems like when one or two of us actually makes it out of the 'hood, those "left behind" start hatin', so, not only do they not know what success looks like, they very seldom associate themselves with "successful" people. Ya feel me?

On the flip, once you have achieved success, how often do you really want to go back to the 'hood? Seriously? No one will ever forget where they came from, nor will they forget that a nucca in the 'hood will kill you to take what you have as opposed to working for it.

Until we as a people are collectively together as a whole with a unified voice, the judicial system will continue to fail us, parents will continue to instill bad habits (knowing or unknowingly), our cries of injustice will go unheard, the urban education system continue to be sub-standard and our young people will continue on their paths of destruction.

@Terrance, this was enlightening to me as I have not been inside a courtroom in a long time. We do have to do better. This was very well written.

@Go back to Africa, I would love to visit the Motherland if u promise to buy my ticket. First class please?

@Where im from, I can feel u. I am not condoning anyone selling but do wut u have to do until u can do better. I hustled for the first 10 yrs of my daughter life to put food on the table. I was lucky enough not to get caught and get a record so now im in corporate America which also sucks but is legal. I would never judge u, but if u can ever get out, do so. Good luck. I mean that

I have an ex boyfriend who was a great student in high school but lived in a very rough neighborhood. He carried a weapon wit him but was not a gansta. One night these dudes harrassed him and pulled out a gun. In self defense he shot one and went to prison for 3 yrs. This guy had never even had a traffic ticket in his life. A real good dude. But once he got out he did his parole and tried to get a job. But that record is following him now. No one wants to hire him. So how can America encourage our youth to get out of jail and get their life together wen no one wants to employ an excon. So wut do these brothers do? Go back to selling, or robbing to eat. We have to give these young men and ladies another shot when they are realeased. If we don't, they will end up right back in jail. We have to do better, but so does the Judicial system.

That is all

Thanks to everyone who felt me in this email, a brotha appreciate it! To WHERE I'M FROM, I understand your argument about brothas with records finding it near impossible to get employed. Listen homie, I'm orignially from Trenton, NJ. You may or may not be familiar with the place, but it's not a nice city. I have older brothers who sold drugs and did all other type of stuff. However, when they appeared in court they had enough sense to wear a suit and tie. My point is what does "hustlin" have to do with your ability to conduct yourself decently when you are standing in front of someone who could decide your future? I understand the criminal justice system is biased and haven't given black people a fair shake. But brothas have to realize that they aren't making it any easier for themselves when they come to court wearing basketball shorts. WIF, you sound like an intelligent dude, and I'm willing to bet you wouldn't go to court in flip flops.
