Chris Rock Banned From Portraying Richard Pryor After Dog Fighting Joke

Chris Rock made some jokes on Jay Leno in defense of Mike Vick and was immediately erased as a potential candidate to portray Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic.

The animal-loving widow of RICHARD PRYOR banned CHRIS ROCK from portraying the late comedy icon on the big screen after he made a joke about dog fighting, according to reports.
The Head of State star was among the frontrunners to land the main role in a new Pryor biopic, but he allegedly lost the part after jokingly defending shamed American football star Michael Vick, who recently served time for running an illegal dog-fighting ring.
During a recent appearance on U.S. TV’s The Jay Leno Show, Rock said, “What the hell did Michael Vick do? Pitbulls ain’t (sic) even real dogs! Dogs have never been good to black people!”
The quip offended Pryor’s wife Jennifer, who serves as the director of animal rescue group Pryor’s Planet, and she made sure Rock’s throwaway comments cost him the movie job.
In an open letter to the star, Jennifer fumes, “For your information, Chris, what Michael Vick did was to torture, drown, electrocute and murder dogs all for fun and for profit! He went to prison for felony animal cruelty! That’s what he did!
“These types of comments only encourage abuse and misunderstanding of this breed, as well as actual dog-fighting. Clearly this part of your latest stand-up routine would not make Richard laugh!”
Fellow funnyman Marlon Wayans is reported to have landed the coveted role in Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, which is expected to hit cinemas in 2011.

Chris is probably the funniest dude on the planet but only Eddie could make that role possible. Marlon Wayons really aint that funny. I hope the movie pops off but i doubt it.

I agree with DT..I can’t see marlon Wayons in that role. I don’t know who could really play Richard and make it believable. Maybe they should go for an unkown.

Big mistake of her part in hiring Marlon Wayans for the role, hopefully he will be able pull it off. Omar Epps was not too happy over losing the role to Marlon. I believe Omar would have been perfect.

I love Chris Rock, but I don’t think he would have been right in this role. I think Eddie would have done a better job. Jennifer Pryor needs to chill. I would like to Give Marlon Wayans the benefit of the doubt and say that he will do a good job, However Marlon is just not funny. He is like that kid in grade school who would pick his nose and eats it just for a reaction, he goes over the top. However He is a much better serious actor than funny man.

I will go with Eddie Griffen on this one….That is one funny MF. Mrs. Pryer needs to go save a child and fuck the animals. I am so tired about these fuckin dogs, cats rats. I ready to fry one up right now for all you animal lovers,(joke) at least it aint a person or a child. Shit, yall could care less unless it is an animal then god forbid burn that person to the cross. What they did to Mike was uncalled for and unexcuseable! They tried to bring him down, but he’s a champion, he got right back up…Go Mike you got my vote anyday!

i think Chris would have been the best. Eddie is funny and great but he aint done no raw comedy since raw. He does family movies. Marlon might have action. He is about the same color as richard. He is gross like pryor and they both were on the pipe. C’mon i think marlon might be perfect. Plus he has a whole family that grew up on pyror, so his the support to pull something like this off!
