Um, while Congratulations are in definately in order, you guys are making it seem as if your ‘shocked’ at this happening, it’s does happen – maybe not 100%, but blackmen DO graduate and matriculte to college and the number is rising with each passing year.

Speaking for myself, The tone of my reply was not to indicate “shock”. As you said yourself — it’s does happen – maybe not 100%. My intent is to congratulate them on working hard and contributing to the rising number. & also on getting that 100% in. We hear so much about the negative things black men do because it’s magnified. So I take every opportunity to applaud achievment.

Mrs 2020, I am aware that this is indeed not a rare occasion. It occurs all the time although you only hear the negative surrounding our black men today. Considering where these young men came from and the challenges they had to face to get to where they are today they have definitely defied they odds.
