Michael Vick’s High School Refuses To Hang His Jersey

Posted by Media Outrage on March 24th, 2011

There are HATERS everywhere folks. Michael Vick’s high school refuses to hang his jersey because of his dog fighting past.

Despite a Facebook campaign by students, Michael Vick’s high school has declined to display his jersey once again.

“HANG VICKS JERSEY!!! Hang Vick’s Jersey, Hang Vick’s Jersey, Hang Vick’s Jersey, Hang Vick’s Jersey …” several posts keep repeating on “Michael Vick High School Jersey Reframed” on Facebook.

Another page, however, “Michael Vick Petition To Not Rehang His Jersey in Warwick High School” had hundreds more “likes.”

Newport News Public Schools said no to a new display.

“It is the final decision,” spokeswoman Michelle Price told the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. “The school administrators just decided that they are not going to take action on the students’ request.”

Vick was Warwick High’s star quarterback in the late ’90s, but after his 2007 felony conviction on charges relating to a dog-fighting operation, the school took his jersey down.

Following 18 months in prison, Vick returned to pro football with the Philadelphia Eagles, putting up such a strong season as its starting quarterback last year that he won comeback player awards and was mentioned as a candidate for league MVP.

Administrators were worried that displaying the jersey could distract students or inspire vandalism or theft, the spokeswoman said.

“I do not believe our current principal is going to reconsider,” she added.

Mediaoutrage- Who really cares!?! He’s still making millions and could buy that damn school and then sell it if he wants. So he really should just give them a mental middle finger.
