Sherman Hemsley Died Of Lung Cancer

Sherman Hemsley died two weeks ago from complications of Lung Cancer….
Television actor Sherman Hemsley had been “very ill” when he died due to complications from lung cancer.
Hemsley, 74, was best known for playing George Jefferson on the television show “The Jeffersons.” Hemsley was found dead on July 24 in his home in the 11400 block of Tom Ulozas Drive in far East El Paso.
An El Paso police report obtained Thursday by the El Paso Times stated Hemsley’s caretaker told police that she had been unable to reach Hemsley by telephone and drove to his home to check on him. Police and paramedics reported Hemsley was dead when they arrived and his body showed signs of rigor mortis.
According to the police report, Hemsley’s caretaker told officers that Hemsley “was very ill and suffered from lung cancer. (Hemsley) was under a doctor’s care and taking medications for his condition.”
A post mortem report by the El Paso County medical examiner’s office stated Hemsley death was due to a superior vena cava syndrome, or a vein blockage, due to a lung mass.
