It wasn’t all glitz and glamour for Halle Berry before she was a Hollywood A-lister.
The 46-year-old Cleveland native competed in the Miss World contest, showing off her cheeky smile and bouffant hair, back in 1986.
The “Monster’s Ball” actress posed in her pink leotard, embellished with a USA graphic, with the other beauty pageant hopefuls.
This wasn’t the first venture for Miss Berry, who sported the crown as former Miss Teen All-American in 1985 and Miss Ohio USA the following year.
She also placed as the first runner-up to Christy Fichtner of Texas in the 1986 Miss USA competition.
According to the Daily Mail, the Miss World pageant sparked Halle’s aspirations to become an entertainer or to have something to do with the media.
In the same year, she became the first African-American Miss World entrant, making do with sixth position as Trinidad and Tobago beauty Giselle Laronde was crowned the winner.
