Al Sharpton is not playing them games.  What games?  These games…..

Reverend Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network, has announced that his attorneys are preparing a defamation lawsuit for slanderous statements made by radio personality Rush Limbaugh published in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal today, Saturday, October 17, 2009. According to Rev. Al Sharpton, if Mr. Limbaugh does not apologize, his attorneys are prepared to move forward with a defamation lawsuit.

Referring to Rev. Al Sharpton in the opinion piece, Mr. Limbaugh erroneously stated: “He played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews “diamond merchants”) and 1995 Freddie’s Fashion Mart riot.”

Mr. Limbaugh’s blatant and defamatory statements regarding the Crown Heights Riots falsely give the impression that Rev. Sharpton was present during the violence that occurred when in reality he had been called in by the family after the violence.  In fact, a study was commissioned by Governor Mario Cuomo that stated unequivocally that activists, including Rev. Al Sharpton, didn’t get to Crown Heights until after the riot. Ironically, in 1991, not only did Rev. Sharpton not participate in the Crown Heights violence, this was the same year he was stabbed in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and he later went to court to plea for leniency for his stabber and forgave him.

In terms of Freddie’s Fashion Mart, Rev. Al Sharpton, along with local elected officials supported the protests. However, a lone gunman who disagreed with the nonviolent nature of the protests entered the store and killed seven people and himself. He was a known critic of Rev. Sharpton’s use of non-violent techniques. For Mr. Limbaugh to imply that Rev. Sharpton has anything to do with someone that killed people and himself is blatantly wrong.

Unless Mr. Limbaugh apologizes and clarifies his statements, attorneys for Rev. Sharpton will move forward with a lawsuit. He has the right to criticize Rev. Sharpton, but he does not have the right to accuse him of criminal activity, and riots and murders are criminal.

Al Sharpton is riding against Rush Limbaugh, as he should.

Monday, October 11, 2009 (New York, NY)—Rev. Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network, and one of the country’s foremost leaders for civil rights, has publicly released a letter he sent to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seeing a meeting to discuss Rush Limbaugh’s potential bid to buy the St. Louis Rams.

In the letter Rev. Sharpton cites Mr. Limbaugh’s divisiveness as anti-NFL and hopes to use a meeting with Commissioner Goodel to urge the NFL to block any potential bid by Mr. Limbaugh stating it would be bad for the league.

In the letter, Rev. Sharpton also praises the Executive Director of the NFL Players Association DeMaurice Smith for publicly asking that the League seek to unify, not divide, by rejecting any bid by Mr. Limbaugh.

Rev. Sharpton will discuss the issue on his nationally syndicated radio show “Keepin it Real” at 1:06 p.m. EST on www.sharptontalk.net.

Al Sharpton had the perm in extra tight and an expensive suit on with a smile that just welcomed every snapshot two nights ago at the Soho Grand Hotel in NYC.  He was celebrating turning another year older.  Al’s been pretty quiet these days since the Michael Jackson memorial where he really did the damn thing and told the world what MJ really meant.  But best believe as soon as some racist cop makes a “mistake” and shoots off 59 rounds at some unarmed brotha or some small racist town tries to hang some innocent black teenagers, Al’s picket signs will be back in full effect!  Nah, but Al Sharpton is the business, and one of the only black voices that can really make noise against injustice everywhere when it’s time for action.  More Bookman from Good Times when you

After being seen around Washington DC together at several events this past weekend, Lisa Raye’s publicist has stepped forward to categorically deny any romantic or LUSTFUL involvment between Lisa Raye and Bookman From GoodTimes  Al Sharpton.

*LisaRaye’s publicist has denied rampant reports across the black blogosphere that the actress is dating Rev. Al Sharpton. The rumors started flying after the two were photographed holding hands at various events over the past several days.      

      Gossip site Media Take Out on Tuesday said they were spotted looking “cozy” at Roland Martin’s Congressional Black Caucus party in Washington D.C. They were also photographed walking through an airport and at Sharpton’s Monday appearance on “WWE Raw.”

      But the outings were strictly business, according to Jeter. The two are involved in the Obama administration’s vision of educational innovation and are promoting a tour that will take them through various cites that serve as solid examples of school reform.     

      “LisaRaye is involved in the White House Education Tour with Education Secretary Arne Duncan, former GOP House speaker Newt Gingrich and Rev. Al Sharpton because she has a foundation, Radiant Jewels, that gives scholarships to young girls,” Jeter explained to EURweb exclusively. “So [the White House Education Tour] is a direct tie-in to what she’s already been doing.”   

And just to be clear, Jeter says that her client and Rev. Al are not an item, Sharpton never counseled LisaRaye through her divorce with Michael Misick as previously reported, and he has never served as her spiritual advisor.

       “Every time you see LisaRaye with some person, don’t assume that she’s dating them,” Jeter said. “There’s a bigger picture to what she’s doing.”
