Since LeBron decided to take his talents to Miami to play with the likes of Dwyane Wade and Chrissy Bosh he’s been the target of a lot of dislike…well you can now add another player to the “i’m not a LeBron fan” category.

Oklahoma City Thunder Kendrick Perkins could care less for LeBron and here’s why:

OAKLAND, Calif. – Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins has seen the replays of Blake Griffin dunking on him. He’s also read all the Twitter buzz about what is being called one of the greatest slams in NBA history.

But if Griffin challenges him again, Perkins doesn’t plan to run for cover.

“If I was in the same position, in the same rotation, I’m going to jump again and again and again,” Perkins told Yahoo! Sports. “I don’t care. A lot of people are afraid of humiliation or don’t know how to handle embarrassment or would even get embarrassed. I don’t care.

“I’m the same Perk you’re going to see. I’m still going to sign autographs the same way. I ain’t going to change. The people that move out the way and stuff are the people who have insecurity problems.

“That’s my job. How will my teammates look at me if next time I just back out the way and just let him dunk when I’m supposed to be defensive-minded, a shot-blocker? That would be a coward move on me. He’d just have to dunk on me again.”

Perkins respected Griffin for not making a spectacle of the dunk afterward or gloating about it. But he wasn’t too appreciative of LeBron James tweeting praise to Griffin.

Several NBA players commented about the dunk on Twitter and in media interviews, but the only one that bothered Perkins was James.

Shortly after the dunk, James tweeted, “Dunk of the Year! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!!! Wow! I guess I’m No. 2 now. Move over #6.” James was referring to his alley-oop dunk he threw down after jumping over Chicago Bulls guard John Lucas III a day earlier.

“You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting,” Perkins said. “You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.

“They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.”

Even Perkins admits Griffin’s dunk was “nice; a nice finish.” He also remembers the advice his former Boston Celtics teammate,Kevin Garnett, once gave him: To be an effective post defender, you have to risk getting dunked on.

“It’s part of the game,” Perkins said. “If you are a shot-blocker, you don’t pick and choose when you are going to jump with somebody or when you are going to rotate.

“You’re not going to lose no friends about it. You might get talked about. But who cares at the end of the day.”

Thunder coach Scott Brooks was playing for the Houston Rockets when Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson threw down his famous dunk over Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon. Brooks loved that Olajuwon was never afraid to challenge a shot – and he sees some of the same qualities in Perkins.

“There are sorry defenders, the guys that don’t want to defend or the guys that run away because they don’t want to put themselves in position like that,” Brooks said. “Perk is not going to run. If it happens again, hopefully it will be a different result. But he is going to put himself in that position again.

“That’s what he is about.”

Mike Brown shared his opinions on the differences between the two superstars he’s had the opportunity of coaching in LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.

Here’s what he had to say regarding both players

“LeBron [James] is a guy who is still learning and still growing, and the reality of it is that being down there with Dwyane Wade has helped him,” Brown said. “They’re different personalities. LeBron, he’s a guy who likes to laugh and joke. He knows obviously there’s a time to be serious, but he’s youthful.

“Kobe is not as much. Kobe’s more serious-minded and so on and so forth. But Kobe knows how to have fun in his own way, too.”

LeBron laced his woman with a 10-carat engagement ring, as he should given the king of money this man makes on the regular.

It was a New Years Eve dinner and celebrations for King James 27th Birthday last night, however it was Lebron’s long-time girlfriend Savannah who walked away with the biggest gift.  An engagement ring!

Party guests that included Queen Latifah, Sanaa Lathan, Jessica White, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade and more watched in awe as Lebron dropped to one knee and asked Savannah for her hand in marriage just after midnight  There was no doubt that she would say ‘Yes’ and she did with a few tears. Savannah and Lebron have been dating since she was 16 and have two kids together; Lebron Jr (7) and Bryce (4). It’s about time he put a ring on it! 

Later, they finished off the night by the Shelborne pool where Nas and Lauryn Hill treated guests to a performance of ‘If I Ruled The World’.

Meanwhile, they were showered with congratulatory tweets from celebrity friends Chris Paul, Monica Brown, Lala & Carmelo Anthony, and Heat General Partner Micky Arison throughout the night.  Check out the tweets and more pics below

We knew deep down inside our gut that neither the owners, players or Commissioner David Stern were willing to forego an entire NBA season and lose Billions in the process. Keep your fingers crossed basketball fans because a tentative deal has been reached to revive the 2011-2012 NBA season:

The NBA and the Players Association have reached a tentative agreement to end the five-month old lockout and start the league’s 2011-12 season on Dec. 25.

After 16 hours of negotiations Friday, the two sides reached a handshake agreement a little after 3 a.m. ET in New York. Both sides must still get a majority vote from the 29 owners and 450 players to finalize the agreement – as well as negotiate a series of smaller issues like a drug testing policy.

The owners made “significant moves” toward the players on several important system issues that long separated the two sides, a union source told Yahoo! Sports Saturday morning. “There’s still some tweaking to those that needs to be done,” the source said.

After the tentative agreement was announced, some players privately said they would not vote for the deal, believing they had conceded too much to the owners. Still, there is not believed to be enough support to block ratification.

“We’re optimistic that the [agreement] will hold and we’ll have ourselves an NBA season,” NBA commissioner David Stern said at a brief news conference held in New York with Players Association executive director Billy Hunter and president Derek Fisher.

Free agency and training camps will start on Dec. 9, Stern said. Under the current agreement, the regular season would have a 66-game schedule that begins on Christmas Day with three games: Boston Celtics at the New York Knicks; Miami Heat at the Dallas Mavericks; and Chicago Bulls at the Los Angeles Lakers.

“It’s finally great to wake up to this kind of news,” Houston Rockets guard Kevin Martin said.

After disbanding as a union and filing an antitrust suit against the NBA, the Players Association needs to reform as a union and hold a vote to ratify the deal. The terms of the agreement included a 50-50 revenue split between the owners and players, a source said.

“We thought it was in both of our interest to try to reach a resolution and save the game and to be able to provide the mind of superb entertainment the NBA historically has provided,” Hunter said.

The negotiating session nearly came undone in the early moments on Friday night when Players Association counsel Jeffrey Kessler told Stern and the NBA’s negotiating team through a speaker phone that the players wanted to move back to a 51 percent revenue split, a league source told Y! Sports. Stern, labor relations committee chairman Peter Holt and deputy commissioner Adam Silver termed the proposal “unacceptable,” and soon left the conference room.

The players were feeling out how much leverage their antitrust lawsuits gave them, sources said, but it’s long been clear that Stern didn’t have ownership support to go beyond 50 percent. The players had a 57 percent share of the revenue split in the last collective bargaining agreement, and the move to 50-50 could shift as much as $3 billion to the owners over the course of a 10-year agreement.

“I speak for everyone when we say, ‘If we work, we’re excited,” Lakers forward Matt Barnes said. “I thought we’d eventually come to something. The league is doing too well to dismiss the season. I thought we’d get started in January or February.”

The settlement talks between the two sides began Tuesday and intensified Friday. Fisher flew to New York to join the negotiations that also included Silver, Holt and lawyers for both sides.

“It was a roller-coaster ride,” Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry said. “I followed every negotiating session and got my hopes up many times.”

The two sides thought they had previously been within reach of a deal a month ago only to have talks break down. After Stern threatened the players with a “reset” offer that would have included a 53 percent share of revenue for the owners, the players decided to disband their union on Nov. 14.

“The reason for the settlement was we’ve got fans, we’ve got players who would like to play and we’ve got others who are dependent on us,” Stern said. “And it’s always been our goal to reach a deal that was fair to both sides and get us playing as soon as possible, but that took a little time.”

The NBA stands to lose billions behind this anti-trust lawsuit that the players are filing against the league. The Miami Heat alone stand to lose a whopping $200 million if this season is lost.

Peep what losses other teams are looking at

LeBron James might disappear in the fourth quarter of playoff games, but should the NBA regular season vanish, a big chunk of the South Florida economy may go up in smoke.

Economists tell CBS Miami that South Florida may suffer $200 million in losses if there is no pro basketball this year. Need an example of the shortfall? CBS reports parking near the American Airlines Arena is now going for three bucks.

And the lockout will do major damage to other cities, too.

In Cleveland, WOIO reports up to 35 percent of downtown restaurants’ annual revenue comes from NBA games.

Portland says no Blazers games translates to a $59 million hit, Oklahoma City claims it will lose $60 million if Kevin Durant doesn’t play, and Tony Parker’s Spurs are worth an astonishing $90 million to the businesses of San Antonio.

Though Miami will feel it the worst, some feel the whole reason for the lockout itself is the Heat’s ability to add James and Chris Bosh last year during free agency. Small market owners want to make sure that never happens again.

Of course, it’s not just local cities that will need a major league stimulus plan. Bloomberg reports that Tuesday is the day pro basketball players were supposed to get their first paychecks of the 2011-12 NBA season. With the games on hold, the NBA’s players are missing out on an average game check of $425,000 per player.

As a whole, the National Basketball Association has an annual revenue of about $4.3 billion, with more than $1.1 billion of that figure coming in the form of gate receipts during last season.

Fans have been dreaming of a 1-on-1 match between these two since ‘bron first entered the league and began putting in work. Kobe Bryant is regarded by many as the best 1-on-1 player in the league, much in the same respect that Michael Jordan was.

Kobe Bryant would have been a real force against Michael Jordan in a 1-on-1 but we doubt he would have won. Then again, he might have won a few games because he is nice as hell but if they played 30 games we’re sure Jordan would win at least 20 of them. Kobe is the dopest one-on-one player since Jordan though.
