Spike Lee, Hilary Swank, and Wesley Snipes got together on the red carpet for a nice picture. Quincy Jones arrived with yet another young beautiful woman on his arm. Jennifer Hudson looked nice. Diddy got his laugh on with Faye Dunaway and Ruby Dee was a class act.

A ton of celebrities came out last night in LA for Ebony Magazine’s pre-Oscar celebration. Denzel is photographed with Linda Johnson who is CEO of Johnson Publishing. Her father John H. Johnson was a maverick in the publishing industry and fought his way through intense poverty and racism to launch an empire that consisted of JET and Ebony Magazines. Jackee Harry, Garcelle Beauvais, Holly Robinson, Denzel, Pauletta, Natalie Cole, Lisa Raye, Quincy Jones, Salli Richardson and her husband Dondra Whitfield and more came out.

Paul McCartney has agreed to pay ex-wife Heather Mills over $108million for just 4 years of marriage. Those are class action lawsuit winnings.

“Two years after their highly publicized plans for a divorce were announced, Sir Paul has agreed to give Mills more than $108 million – a tidy $27 million for every year of their marriage, London’s Daily Mail reported.

Mills, 40, will pocket a nearly $40 million lump sum, with $5 million annual payments until their 4-year-old daughter Beatrice reaches 18.

The settlement was huge but almost peanuts compared with the nearly $1.5 billion U.S. media magnate Sumner Redstone coughed up to his ex-wife, Phyllis, in 2001 after he got caught cavorting with a young model.

Other big-bucks settlements have included Chicago energy magnate Michael Polsky, $184 million; hoops legend Michael Jordan, $168 million; singer Neil Diamond, $150 million, and golfer Greg Norman and director Steven Spielberg, $100 million each.

As part of the deal, Mills agreed to never speak publicly or write in detail about the breakdown of the marriage, according to the Daily Mail.”

Everyone’s favorite talk show host and one and only Queen of media Oprah Winfrey is expanding her already huge empire by getting her own television network named OWN Oprah Winfrey Network.

Discovery Communications and Winfrey announced a deal Tuesday where the Discovery Health network will be turned over to Winfrey next year, becoming OWN — the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The cash-free transaction involved Winfrey turning over her Web site to Discovery, while the communications company makes her chairman of the network, which is currently seen in 68 million homes, said David Zaslav, Discovery Communications chief.

“The focus of the channel will be the focus of Oprah’s brand, which is to educate and inspire people to live the best life they can,” Zaslav said.

Some of Winfrey’s stable of regular contributors could be expected to be part of the programming, he said. Winfrey’s current talk show, as well as rights to use of reruns, is spoken for until the end of the 2010-11 season.

Besides hosting syndication’s top-rated talk show, Winfrey puts out her own magazine.

Oprah and Discovery will each own %50 of the network but OWN will be an independent company. Discovery said Winfrey will have “full editorial control” over the joint venture, with responsibility for “programming, branding and creative vision.” In a statement, Winfrey said the network “is the evolution of the work I’ve been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my show.” Winfrey and Discovery will begin the search for a CEO to run the network.

That’s huge for her. We love to see her continue to grow and just freaking take over everything that’s what’s up. She’s so much bigger than other celebrities, like the only celebrity more famous is perhaps Michael Jackson. But she is still on another level business wise.
